I find it ironic that you want to save $30 of internet service for your smart phone, but you do not mind paying same price for each new DS game. Even used DS games are more expensive than the games on iOS store.
And you're saying most of those iOS games are comparable to things like Fire Emblem?
@RyanTheSlaya
I am not sure if you own an iOS device or a smart phone, but things are way far from "angry birds" kind of games. There is Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Deus Ex, Marvel VS Capcom 2 , MegaMan X, Street Fighter vs Tekken, Minecraft, Sonic CD, Crazy Taxi, Football Manager, Jet Set Radio. Things have changed way too much since "Angry Birds" were the only kind of games to play on an iphone.
I'm not saying those are the only kinds of games on iOS devices. I'm saying they're the only ones that smartphones are good for. (Yes I own a Windows phone with plenty of games).
Know what the problem is with those titles on smartphones? They play like shit.
And no, no case is going to solve that problem. Until Apple or some company bundles one with the phone, developer support will be spotty for controller cases. There are already tons of decent ones on the market. They all only work with a few games. And it will stay that way. Sony tried at making a smartphone with a dedicated controller and that failed too for the record (Xperia Play).
Last I checked the iphone is much more capable with more features than the Nintendo DS. The only thing I will give an advantage to the DS is the buttons and analogue controller and as I said, its not enough reason for non-dedicated gamers to make the $180 investment. Can you imagine nintendo putting an ad on tv saying "buy our device, it has buttons?" . Any way, as soon as some one comes up with a reliable case for the iphone(or another smartphone) the DS will lose its last advantage.
Again, this is the point I'm trying to make that has gone over your head. The market for the 3DS hasn't shrunk. The market for consoles hasn't shrunk. The casual market has just gotten larger. The 3DS, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 are still selling like hot-cakes. Pre-orders for the first batch of PS4 and XBO have sold out.
Older. Not wiser.
