Well...so much for cutting back. I finally broke the 100 game barrier by acquiring 101 new games this month. Moreover, I have now acquired just over 500 games this year. I did not mean to get this many games...but if you look at my purchases this month, you will see that people were practically giving them away...
(Seriously...the first yard sale I went to this morning had a box full of $1.50 NES, SNES, and NES game...the second yard sale had a stack of $0.25 CIB PS1 games...and the first pawn shop I stopped at this morning had $2 GC, PS2, and XBOX games at its sidewalk sale...Honestly, it was almost too much! Fortunately, I was also able to pick up a fair number of items that I can sell to offset the cost of my purchases this month...)
Other than stopping at Bone's favorite store while I am in Maine, I do plan on cuting back significantly in August. (After this week, there aren't any good deals left in Charlotte anyway! )

July was pretty insane in terms of the amount of stuff coming in. I partly blame the budget blowout on Steam and PSN sales, partly blame my attempt to start working on the 7800 collection again, and partly blame Cave for releasing two Special Edition of games that I could play on my US consoles in the span of a month. Anyway, I spent far too much money and fucked up my previously miniscule totals and averages for the year pretty hard but had fun doing it. Next month I hope to have a month with more sales than spending so that I can bring these numbers back down again. We'll see.
I've never counted PS+ "free" games since they are basically rentals. Starting this month, I will count XBL Gold games since, as I understand it, they are free to keep if Gold expires.

I did pretty good money-wise. Most every game was only a few dollars or so. Exceptions include Phantasy Star IV, Ys III and Sorcerian, which were all around $25 and Muramasa ($40 new).

Because I spend too much time pouring over this thread, I'm curious if you are deducting the profit made by selling games (if any) from the total cost. I'm also curious if you are deducting games parted with (if any) from the total number of games acquired.
I just picked up Stubbs the Zombie Complete, Ultimate Capcom Collection Vol. 2 (complete xbox version) and Looney Tunes Acme ...something or another. Each one cost $2.90. I got the Looney Tunes 360 game to my nephew. I also picked up Phantom 2049 for the SNES for $2.90.
Passed on Capcom Collection vol. 1 (xbox), Zelda Twilight Princess (Wii Version) and Justice League Heroes (xbox), but they were there too. All games were the same price at the local thrift store.
Never played Stubbs the Zombie before but I love it. It's got a lot of pick up and playability which in the phase of life I'm in now is what I look for most in a game. It's just hard to sit down and play an RPG like Final Fantasy 7 for 50 hours now.

I have sold a few games this year, but i have not deducted the profits from my total. (I sold about $250 worth of PS1 discs back in January and February, and I will be selling some more items next month.) I have traded a lot of games, however, and I account for those by listing the price for the item that I received as the cost of the traded item plus the shipping cost.
Also...my collection is like a black hole. Once something drifts into it, it never escapes...
EDIT: That said...502 games is too many...I am going to tone it way down in August.
