Wii owners at my work are testing my limits...

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Personally there is millions of things about society that drive me bonkers and piss me off sending me into violent rages in my head. But I rarely act on them (there was that one time I strangled the foreign guy at a Mobil in Los Angeles, but that's just a fluke).

The thing is the really fun parts of society are a wonderful pay off. My sister and her friends are freakin' annoying and drive me absolutely nuts, but in the same respect it is exhilorating fun to hang out with them. They once dragged me out on a boat to this little island in the ocean where on Sundays tons of people just go and hang out and drink. It was awesome! I got a massive sun burn and partied all day long. I ran into some pricks who didn't like me and tried to start a few fights, but in the end it was damn good times!
Sounds horrible to me...

I have a Wii and play virtual console the most. that was until I got Wario Land Shake It.
I have been disappointed by the "non party" games (ie Wii Sports) to play since Mario Galaxy, but I do love the new Wario game...

You talk about games at work?

You're already lucky.

lordofduct wrote:So now here I am stuck in front of a TV waiting for my turn on Guitar Hero as everyone else struggles through easy... I finally get my turn and wail through a couple tunes on Expert and then the MOST annoying part.

"Fucking show off, you're just a show off."

Sorry, I played this game, what do you expect me to do? Play on Easy??? Sorry, that isn't fun, I'm playing this for fun! Sorry if you can't beat me at the game, that isn't my fault and I'm not a show off for it. If you can't beat me, get better. Now if I was playing on expert standing backwards with my eyes closed and drinking a beer at the same time and gloating the whole time... K call me a show off, cause I'm showing off. But just because I PLAYED the game doesn't mean I'm a fucking show off. Fuck you.
Oh man, that is easily one of my top 10 pet hates. Easy mode sucks. You suck if all you can do is press buttons vaguely in time to a 4/4 beat (we're not even talking any particular rhythm here, just a button on every crotchet beat. You know what I mean if you have ever tortured yourself with easy mode) and still come out with a laughable 70% 3 star.

Playing on expert is the only thing that is a challenge in these games. I'm not trying to show off or anything but when the first one came out I spent about 3 hours in a game store just playing it after I pre-ordered the damn thing. I started on hard. I've never played anything lower than hard on any of the guitar heroes or rock bands. It really isn't that hard. At all. If you can't get your pinky moving, well, just practice some more.

What really pisses me off are the people who just play on Easy mode. Play it so much so that they get 100% every time. I ask them, why don't you move up to medium. "oh that's too hard, what's the fun in that?". I get the point, yah easy is easy, it requires minimum effort and I guess you get a reward or some shit at the end of it, but why would you refuse to better yourself and get a bigger thrill from doing it on a higher difficulty. I just don't get that at all.

My mum has just got Guitar Hero 3 for her PS3 and she just plays one song over and over and over. Welcome to the Jungle. On Easy. She gets 100% every time. Can she play any other song. No. I get so frustrated when i'm over there. I'm like, mum, can't you just try a different song. "No, i like to play this one 100%", Why don't you play the same song on a higher difficulty, "No, it's too hard, i like this one better." But if you can 100% it every time you have the skills to do medium without it causing you too much hassle. "Nah, i've tried it, i couldn't remember all the notes" This threw me completely. I was like, you memorized every single note?! "yup! Why, is that wrong?" I was just dumbfounded. Don't you look at the notes when you're playing. "No, I just remember it and then play along to the music."

My mouth was wide open, I just didn't really know quite what to say.

When I went round to my mates house a few weeks ago, I played TTFATF on hard. He hated me because I just did it the first time. He immediately switched games. This is another one of my pet hates, people who just can't accept playing with a better player. They don't realise the only way to get better at anything is by facing better opponents. I try and explain this to them and they just get offended and think I'm saying that they suck. ARGH!!!

I'll admit I am one of those who gets upset when someone just whomps me in some game and I have no chance, and I do say I don't want to play anymore.

BUT

I didn't suggest the game in the first damn place... if it were up to me I wouldn't have played it at all. But they wanted to, I entertained them for a minute, I had nooooo chance, I'm done. Now they're all like "ohhh, you just jealous."

No, I just don't like Mortal Kombat (or some other title). I'm not keen on bloody and violent games, and I don't really play competitive games. I grew up with one controller and the only kid in the house who actually played video games. Yep there was like 80 bajillion kids in my house and I was the only gamer. I never was into sports already, and now I wasn't into 2 player games.

That's why getting called a show off annoys the piss out of me. Because when I get whomped in a game it is all:

"Shit negro you all just gimp!" "Motha fucka you need to take a class or sumtin' ", "shit bitch I just tea bagged yo' ass!", "Fag, stop just mashing buttons... I thought you was a gamer."

That's showing off... in my book... so I don't want to be compared to that. And yes, that's how we talk round these parts.

I'm a pretty hardcore gamer. But I also enjoy my Wii. I'm not seeing where this dissonance comes from--is it just elitism?

It had a lot of promise at first with great games like Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros Brawl but then it just stopped, there were no more good games. Nintendo has already released the Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Smash Bros, and any other good first party series on the Wii, and they have yet to have more then 1 Main Mario on a console since NES, maybe SNES, if you count Super Mario World 2, which I don't. This year looks to be a bit more promising with games like The Conduit, No More Heroes 2, and Mad World. Maybe this year will be better for Wii. I do like the system when its not being gimmicky and casual. The only good "casual" games imo are Boom Blox and Wii Sports (fun for a bit).

At least I got my 360 with all its awesome games and upcoming awesome games, Gears 2, Fallout 3, Mirrors Edge, Rage, ect.

Maybe the Wii will surprise us. But until then, PC, Xbox 360, and old consoles shall keep me busy.

Wii owners are annoying though, my aunt got one and only gets the crappy cheap games and no actual games besides Mario Kart.
