Human Waste is one of my favorite albums, although you can't really go wrong with any of their first few albums.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the post-reunion stuff. It's not bad per-se, but I really have little reason to listen to anything past Despise The Sun.

My guitar amp of choice is an Ampeg VH-140C, and Suffocation's one of the big reasons for that. They used to use those live a lot, and Despise The Sun was recorded with one too.

yeah they're not so great. new one is good, though.

totally unrelated but is anyone gonna catch the Kreator/Overkill/Warbringer tour this fall? i am trying to plan a trip to Louisville to see it.

Gonna try to go to Dallas for it in November. I've seen some clips of Overkill live and they're pretty awesome.

Had to share this great EP I found yesterday.

Casting Shadows by Sylosis. Heavy, technical, but oddly sentimental death metal. EP starts with "Dark Revelations."

I just figured something out. Metalcore is this generation's glam metal.

Its not necessarily the best comparison, but I can draw parallels pretty well. Both originate in the US, both are scenes with a heavy focus on looks, including ridiculous hair, both have a large issue with originality, both are pushed by record companies, both movements are generally frowned upon by the majority of the metal community.

It kinda jumped into my mind seeing some old videos of Nikki Six while watching Metal Evolution. I thought, man, he looks like a metalcore singer... then it hit me. Doh.

IDK, there are parallels, but it's not really quite the same deal.

Glam was incredibly ubiquitous, Metalcore never quite reached that level of popularity.

Its definitely not the same level, but then again, metalcore doesn't have MTV to row the money boat down the river.

Another point is that these scenes were where the girls were/are at the time. Finding a girl who likes metal that isn't Hair metal/metalcore is difficult.

Well, I've never watched Headbangers Ball.

The metal I listen too is just not what gets covered by stuff like that. I'd do better if I lived in Germany or the late 70's/early 80's when it came to metal. But I'm really good on the country side of things right now.
