Anyone else play this? I bought it shortly after it came out on the 3DS e-shop.
I'm not quite sure what to think. It was basically fun and gratifying when I managed to hit notes in the right sequence and the art style was super-cute but I think the biggest shortcoming for me is that for a game that revolves entirely around music taking place in a imaginary music world where flora and fauna are all shaped like musical instruments the soundtrack wasn't very good. I mean the in game 'beat' served its purpose of giving me notes to hit in a certain order but I can't think of a single tune in this game I'd want to plug in headphones and listen to separate from the game itself.

Re: I just beat Harmo Knight
I played some of that game and lost interest in it before ever finishing it. I didn't enjoy the music all that much either, and some parts of the game were a bit frustrating. The beat or the rhythm or whatever just seems "off" in that game and it annoyed me.
To point to another recent game in the same genre, I'd say Rhythm Thief is better, but that game is annoyingly hard at times too. However, the music is good and while the game is often frustratingly, aggravatingly hard, it isn't usually because the beat or rhythm seems out of sync, it's because the timing is so demanding and the game switches things up constantly to throw you off.
For me, you can't beat the classics. I had more fun with Space Channel 5, PaRappa, and Bust a Groove then I've had with Harmo Knight or Rhythm Thief. Unjammer Lammy is great too. Space Channel 5 and Bust a Groove are two all time faves for me.

Lol now you're making me want to pick up Space Channel 5 for my Dreamcast. I've never played it myself but I'm pretty sure I've sold myself short for that genre by settling for Harmo Knight. I doubt anyone will remember it in a few years.
