Well I guess my top 10 would be something like

Cannibal Corpse - Axe Cleaved Vagina
Children of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet
All That Remains - Fall of Ideals
Protest the Hero - Kezia
Trivium - Ascendancy
The Devil Wears Prada - A Beautiful Discord
Underoath - Define the Great Line
Between the Buried and Me - Alaska
Job For a Cowboy - Genesis
Morbid Angel - Illud Divinus Insanum

Honorable mention for every Mastodon album
jk

Death - Human
Death - Individual Thought Patterns
Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
Obituary - Cause of Death
Dismember - Like an Ever Flowing Stream
At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul
Dark Tranquility - The Gallery
Amon Amarth - Once Sent from the Golden Hall
Kalmah - The Black Waltz
Opeth - Morningrise
That's mainly a mix of stuff that got me into death metal, stuff that I still listen to regularly to this day, and stuff I have good memories of playing.

Would give honorable mentions to Pestilence, Cynic, Dissection (more death metal than black metal to me), Arsis, Be'lakor, Suffocation, and Ensiferum albums. Probably more too but whatever.

You made me panic for a second.

I really dig both Orchid and Morningrise by Opeth.

Da fuck is that CC album? I've never heard of it

Opeth isn't a band I've listened to in a looooooong time. I've got a copy of Still Life around here somewhere, and I definitely remember being into Blackwater Park in my more formative years.

I've never really listened to anything later, and I dunno how different the earliest stuff is.

Still Life actually marks their turning point for the most part, so you might find looking into their early stuff to be interesting. I think Orchid is very good too but I like Morningrise just a bit more.

That's certainly a bit different sounding yeah. Not sure I'm honestly ultra into it at the moment, but it definitely might be worth looking into for me.

Cannibal Corpse... pretty good stuff, but not my cup of tea. Songs like "Fucked With a Knife" don't really flow well around here. If we're talking murder, I"m more of a slow murder ballad kind of guy.

Orchid (the band) sounds like an exact copy of first-four Sabbath. Its insane.

Hammer smashed face is a classic but I dislike Cannibal Corpse (or rather, find then to be boring). I don't like the vocals, not really a fan of over the top gore in lyrics&cover art (in general, that's why, besides the vocals, I dislike grindcore and it's million subsubgenres). Songs like Frantic Disembowelment sound boring to me. Maybe it is technical, but I find that sound to be repetitive and boring wankery. Both with guitars&drums and vocals. I hate that low growl style of vocals (don't even get me started on pig squeals :x). I'd like to like Grindcore, but I can't stand that sort of vocals. I like generic black metal vocals, the tortured screams of Varg (and the screams in early Death albums), the style of vocals used in most 1990s scandinavian (melodic) death metal, stuff like Morbid Saint, Pestilence etc and even the low growls of early Amorphis, but I just dislike CC and can't stand anything that goes even further down the line from them.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

I dunno, I don't typically associate grindcore with "gore" lyrics in my mind. Napalm Death isn't gore. Terrorizer isn't gore. Etc, etc. I mean yeah you have stuff like Carcass, but I don't think it's something that really goes hand in hand with it.

Are you talking like brutal death, slam, etc? Because that stuff is sometimes almost outright comically bad. Fuckin inhales, why do they have to do inhales? What's brutal about sounding like a fuckin frog?

Human Waste is one of my favorite albums, although you can't really go wrong with any of their first few albums.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the post-reunion stuff. It's not bad per-se, but I really have little reason to listen to anything past Despise The Sun.

My guitar amp of choice is an Ampeg VH-140C, and Suffocation's one of the big reasons for that. They used to use those live a lot, and Despise The Sun was recorded with one too.
