Yeah, looks like a solid collection to me.

If that isn't a thick solid back where you have those consoles, I'd really try to get some neat holes cut in there. Not having all of the cables cascading down the front will help that make a lot better. If you can't put binder clips on there to hold them up in reach off the back, maybe pick up some of those velcro cable ties and attach them on there to corral the cables.

Your joking right?

not when it comes to games, girl!

You do have nice things.

One thing you can do to at least store your gameboy/gamegear games is to get a card box.

Those longish boxes where you put your baseball/football/sports cards. They come in different sizes. and they have little flaps to close better. They're an okay size for them.

There are other people's threads here where they display their stuff and they've solved many of their issues. Not all mind you but enough to make their room presentable.

Many have made their own shelves others have used existing shelves from old stores. Others buy their own cabinets. I've even seem some cinderblock shelves!

But as long as you're happy with what you have, show it off!
I'v lurked on here and seen most of the game rooms posted on here...they've given me ideas but nothing I could easily pull off. Which is why I need help. As for the card box idea...eh...I want to be able to see my games easily.

And i'm not happy with what I have...not at all.

It's a pretty thick back actually. Like I said I would drill holes but I couldn't reach them and binder clips wouldn't help that. Cable ties wouldn't work because while they are all cluttered as it is now, they are the right length to connect to my tv..so I don't want to shorten them by tying them up.

A great collection takes time and luck. You're on a good step with what you have and if you can reorganize then you can see that it's the start of a good collection.

Maybe I'm not grasping the full amount of DVDs that you have, but did you consider book ends and setting the DVDs up to display the, on that top shelf? It looks like you have the room for that.

Hahah...yeah your not grasping it. I must have...jesus close to 200+ DVD's. I doubt I have room to display them like that. I wish I did though! It's a good idea...if I had a smaller amount. One day i'll count them all up...

200 dvds is a little bit. I do believe I have over 900+ in my dvd collection.

find my old thread on my room I have more than that. And still more now.

I cant stop buying them when they're a dollar or two.

I know what you mean...I just can't control myself! They are way cheaper then games...so it's easy to get a good sized collection started...so many movies...so little time :D

My mom thinks I have an addiction to buying DVD's and games...she might be right.

And to much time on my hands = me finally counting them all. 246 DVD's and 14 or so boxed sets. I of course have more but not in my room...somewhere in the basement I have at least 2 more boxes of DVD's and a box of PS2 games...but I can't find them no matter how hard I try!

Anyways looking at the picture...would it even be possible to do what Aar1012 said? idk if they would all fit in the space.

Sorry I didn't explain enough. If you got the velcro kind, you could tack them on to the top back edge of the shelf thing and then make loops to hold the wires up a bit like the binder clips do. A bit loose so you can pull and connect, but will slide back and fall behind the case when not connected.

Well...they run behind the systems now..is that what you mean? I'm still a bit confused...

You have a lot of stuff that just needs to be organized. Simple things such as rerouting the cables thru the back wall of the shelves will make the console layout cleaner. Seriously take the time, get a stool and drill a few lousy holes instead of making another help me post. That TV really needs a better spot and not on the cardboard boxes. Pick up some Video Switchboxes and Powerstrips to avoid all the needless risk of damage swapping of cords. You are in a trap which a lot of us fall in; continual buying of video games and not taking the time to "clean house".

At your age you should be able to at least find some kind of startup job so you can eventually get your own place. Maybe spend more time searching for work instead of another game run? The more you procrastinate the harder it will be to get into the job market.

Now that I've got a couple of picture to look through, I think I can come up with at least one solution for you that I learned here.

See this box?

Image

This is an old cassette box. This and others like it usually pop up quite frequently at the thrift stores around here for around $2. These are great for loose Genesis (and Master System) games because Sega was kind enough to make the cart dimensions fit into those plastic slots perfectly. You should be able to put the box in the same area where you store your N64 and SNES cart containers. That should free up a little bit of room for you.

Sadly, the 32X games are not going to fit, as they're a smidgen too big. But it doesn't look like you have that many loose 32X carts. So after you put the Genesis games in there you should have enough room to just 'rest' the 32X games in another tray or place them somewhere else.

Or, if you want the loose Genesis carts more on display, you can try to find some cassette holders that screw into the wall. I see wooden and plastic ones around here all the time. It all depends on whether or not you want to poke some holes in the wall.
