Like an Ever Flowing Stream by Dismember... one of the best death metal albums of all time, or the best?

It would probably be in my top 10, but I wouldn't say it's the best ever. But it doesn't surprise me that it is the best for many.

edit: fyi my personal best death metal album ever is Human.

My ten favorite would have to be (off the top of my head and not in order):

Amorphis - Tales From the Thousand Lakes
Asphyx - Last One on Earth
Benediction - Transcend the Rubicon
The Chasm - Deathcult for Eternity: The Triumph
Cryptopsy - None So Vile
Demilich - Nespithe
Dismember - Like an Ever Flowing Stream
Edge of Sanity - Crimson
Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
Nocturnus - The Key

(to be fair, I don't listen to much death metal)

Yeah a lot of those would be on my own list as well.

Personally, I'd also include:
Autopsy - Severed Survival
Bolt Thrower - The IVth Crusade (or War Master, or Realm of Chaos...)
Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten (I'm not a fan of their imitators, but Suffo themselves are awesome)
Immolation - Here in After
Napalm Death - Harmony Corruption (Yeah they're a grind band, but this album was especially "death metal")

...and I feel like something from Obituary or Death should belong here too. If it's okay to include more grindcore-ish stuff I'd probably also toss in Carcass - Necroticism.

Oh yes, that would have to be the Death album that should belong on my own list up there.

It reminds me of Atheist as well. Piece of Time and Unquestionable Presence are great.

IDK I'd need more time to think of a really good list.

Yeah that was top ten, but if I were to expand it I'd include Infester, Death, Unleashed, At the Gates, Autopsy, Obituary, Bolt Thrower, Suffocation, Pan.Thy.Monium, and a few more. Death metal rulez.

Don't forget Master, Thanatos, Pestilence, Gorguts, Unleashed, Entombed, Incantation... :D

You know, Cannibal Corpse, funny thing with them. I own a bunch of CDs from them, including every Barnes era album. I enjoy them well enough, but honestly I can't see any of them breaking into any sort of "favorites" list. Maybe Eaten Back to Life, but it'd be pretty low.

Agreed. CC has some decent material, but nothing awe-inspiring. More of a "fun" band for me to listen to every once in a great while.
