Sega Genesis power adapter?
I have this thing that is a 6v ac-dc power adapter. Is it safe to use with a Genesis system? Thanks.

6 volts would be no good.

When you're in the post edit box it'll just be words, yes, but if you click preview or submit you should see the pic.someone3760 wrote:Ok, I can't today though. How do I add pictures though? Whenever I click insert image it the picture comes out as a bunch of words.
You don't even need to post a pic, just post exactly what is says for input and output. For example...
Input: 120v AV 60Hz
Output: 10v DC 1.2A
But yeah, like Hobes said, I believe 6v is too low for the Genesis.
Re: Sega Genesis power adapter?
That's not enough voltage (the Genesis needs at least 7.5V) and you also need to make sure it puts out enough amperage and is the right polarity (tip negative for the model 1, tip positive for everything else)

Re: Sega Genesis power adapter?
Ok, I found two power cords. One says:
AC/DC adapter
Input: 110V-60Hz 90mA
Output:6V-250mA
The second one says:
AC ADAPTOR
Input: 120VAC 60Hz 12W
Output: 9VAC 1A
The genesis would be a model 1 also.

Re: Sega Genesis power adapter?
Do not use either of them on the Genesis. That second one is outputting AC which will wreck just about anything you plug it into. the NES is one of the few items most people have that expects AC coming out of the brick. Do not use that brick with anything that isn't expecting 9 volts AC and up to 1 Amp (1000 mA) or you will ruin that device. See the power link in my sig.someone3760 wrote:Ok, I found two power cords. Ok, I found one last AC-DC power cord:
Input:AC 110V/220V 60Hz/50Hz
Output: DC9V-500mA
Thanks for the help!
