nice.

have you grabbed the DLC?
Dude that is legit. Having tried to get some of the mask bits, I can attest that platinuming that game is a monumental feat.

Thanks! The game definitely can get rough, but I didn't mind so much because it was fun. I just checked out that DLC dsheinem mentioned, and it looks like they added a new stage with even more tough challenges. Those guys are evil

I'm gonna give that a try and see how it goes.

On another note, I never realized this game has a Journey reference in it

I somehow missed that while playing through the game. That's pretty cool

I'm 2 for 2 on Drinkbox Studios games now. I got all the trophies in Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack too :)

I guess that officially makes me a fan of their work

36. Bleed (Steam) - 7/26

With the slow trickle of console releases I spent a lot of the last month juggling a bunch of games on Steam, leading to a lot fewer completed games than usual.

Attack of the Friday Monsters:
Part of the Guild02 series (in case you aren't familiar: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guild01), AotFM is a cute story about a boy living in a town where monsters attack every Friday. I really can't say much more without spoiling it, but it's a really cute story where most of the gameplay is talking to the townsfolk and playing a simple card game. It only took a few hours to complete, but I was charmed the whole time.

Bleed:
Awesome, action-packed indie game. It uses a pixelated art style, and all gameplay takes place in two dimensions. Movement is handled with the left stick, and shooting with the right. You also have a quadruple jump, tied to the right trigger, and limited bullet time, tied to the left trigger. The game is short but difficult, and has a lot of cute writing. It's a lot of fun, and I definitely recommend it to fans of bullet hell shooters or side scrolling platformers.

The Room by Fireproof Games, which I got for Android from Humble Bundle.
The Room is a 2012 puzzle video game developed by British-based Fireproof Games. The game was originally developed for the iOS mobile platform and released in September 2012. The Android version debuted as part of a Humble Bundle in March 2013 and was subsequently released on Google Play.
The Room presents the player with a series of strange boxes that have a number of physical mechanisms on them. The player is challenged to figure out how to open each one - typically by undoing a series of locks - to access another puzzle box within it. The game uses a variety of motions enabled by mobile device touchscreens to simulate actions in real life, such as looking around the device, turning keys, and activating switches. Through the game, a story involving the research of an unnamed person into the Fifth Classical Element, "Null" is described by notes found through the various box puzzles.
The Room has received positive praise, and the iOS version received several awards. The game has sold more than 1 million copies, allowing Fireproof to develop an upcoming expansion and a sequel to the title.

Total for 2013: 29

Dishonored - PC
Right from the opening scenes I knew this game was going to be awesome. The setting and world with its steam punk inspirations and stylized graphics pulled me in instantly. The graphics, while not technically amazing are really well done. The story I thought was also well implemented and other than being a little bit predictable at times was thoroughly enjoyable.

The gameplay mechanics are where the game really shines, using magic powers to teleport behind a guard, assassinate them, have them turn to ash, teleporting behind the next guard, slitting their throat, then shooting the guard with a sleeping dart who notices you, all in slow motion! It's badass!

The only downside, is it is a pretty short game considering the style of game it is, but still much longer than your average COD rump and it left me wanting me. So much so I purchased the DLC before finishing the main game.

Borderlands 2 - Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage [DLC] - PC
This was a bit of a step backwards from the first DLC which was pretty enjoyable. The missions were much blander with not a whole lot of new being added to the game. The final boss was just boring and annoying, the idea was great, but poorly executed. The only saving grace was Torgue himself, who was a huge throwback to Macho Man Randy Savage and was really entertaining to listen to him speak. Other than that it was BL2 as usual, which is a good thing, it was just not as good as and Pirate Booty.

37. The Swapper (Steam) - 7/28

I didn't think I'd have another game done so soon, but The Swapper was so good I couldn't turn it off.

The Swapper is a 2D puzzle platformer where you create clones of yourself to solve spacial puzzles. Clones will mirror your every move, and you can plant your consciousness into any clone as long as it's within line of sight. The puzzles are fairly straight forward until environmental effects come into play like reversed gravity and limited cloning abilities.

Not only are the puzzles difficult and satisfying to solve, but the soundtrack, story and graphics are all really good. The whole experience was haunting; it was a really cool sci-fi story that definitely got me thinking.

The style of the puzzles reminded me a little of Portal - having to think outside of the box to keep a button pressed or get myself on the other side of a wall. But when I took my time to solve a puzzle, really studied the room, thinking over my options to the relaxing soundtrack, I was taken back to my time with Fez.

Watch some videos to see if it's for you. I don't really want to compare it to anything, because it's just something that needs to be experienced.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary 360

Beyond the warm memories, Halo holds up extremely well in the modern era. The backtracking is as annoying as it ever was, but the fresh coat of paint turns it into less of a slug through pale, dark corridors and makes the game much more visually interesting than in it's original form. The soundtrack has also been updated, and sounds absolutely amazing, as it always has. It's just so amazing to me that a console shooter from 2001 still has the ability to blow me away more than most modern ones. The levels are generally huge and full of exploration, and while the game did introduce the 2 weapon system to my dismay, it does it better than most games, never forcing you to use a certain weapon unless you want to. It was great to play through it again, and it makes me incredibly happy that it holds up to my fond memories of it.

Only problem with it is the flood are there still there. I started Anniversary, got to the flood and drifted off onto other games. They are the laziest designed thing ever, along with as you mentioned, back tracking.
