Wait a minute, you mean all the psn titles like PSX originals and ps2 games won't make it to the ps4? (especially that psx emulation has been around for a long time now, ps4 should be more than able to do it) .
Nope, Sony and Microsoft have already said their next consoles are not backwards compatible and thus none of your digital content will be playable on the new system.
Sony is pushing this new Gaikai tech they acquired. Their plan is to allow you "stream" older titles over the internet as a replacement solution to the lack of backwards compatibility. The reception to this is a bit mixed, mostly because internet requirements for this are sort of high and some people may also have data limits with their ISP. Basically it's a relatively new technology that hasn't quite been perfected yet as it still has some issues to iron out.
Yep. I plan on keeping my PS3 anyway. At least until I hear more details on the streaming. If I can stream all my current PSN downloads at some point in the future for a small fee or free then maybe I'll be able to unload the PS3.

I'm keeping mine for quite a while as well. Especially since there's still worthwhile games coming out in 2014 for it. (I'll also probably put a couple thousand hours into GT6)
I guess I will put off buying the ps4 and get the ps3 for a much cheaper price (if the ps4 is $400 then how much with the ps3 be?) .
This should not be happening, they could have just used emulation at least for psx releases . Not sure if ps4 can handle ps2 games as emulation or in any other way.
Even on the 360 part , Castle Crashers, Limbo, Braid, Jet Set Radio , Sonic Adventures 2...
All of this will be missed.
The question remains how long will the online store of the ps3/360 be on? Until when will Microsoft points be sold?
A new question arises, with so many Dreamcast games on the 360. Is it better to get the 360 version which got the HD treatment probably or play them on the Dreamcast through the muddy looking composite on an HDTV especially that they probably going to cost me at least 50% less to get the XBL version
The PS4 has more than enough hardware to emulate PS2 games.
The only thing you can really do is make sure you keep all your stuff downloaded. The stores likely won't go down for awhile. Even Xbox Live for the first Xbox didn't go down for years.
