I've heard about that. But could I brick my console via updates? That's the problem.

Brick or it could be patched out.

Honestly, just run the homebrew channel on the Wii. They're cheaper to replace should something screw up.

Why so serious? Did the mean ol' nasty Console Genie not grant you your 500 billion wishes?
I think it's pretty clear he's just trying to stir up trouble now. Let's move along people.

No. All the Wii Mode is completely seperate and unrelated to the Wii U side of the system. They did this do hackers wouldn't have a headstart in hacking the Wii U. I've had homebrew on my Wii Mode since February and I've been through 3 Wii U updates with no issues.

Interesting. Is it possible to use USB loaders via Wii mode or make it region free? If so, I could probably just sell my Wii.

I don't see why not. Might get a little messy if you've got an external HDD for the Wii U as well as one for Wii backups though. Bear in mind I'm not the expert on Wii homebrew but I'm pretty sure most everything works on Wii U just fine.

I don't use the homebrew stuff that much b/c I use emulators on my PC.

Yea. I'd probably have to swap HDDs for that. Anyway, I will look into it. Thanks. It's definitely comforting knowing that through all the system updates so far Wii mode is still the same.

Thought they announced earlier this month that it would be.
