Shenmue doesn't suck. I mean yes, it does, but given that you got it at release and you had days of your life to piss away...Well it was great in that case. Same with FFX if you ask me.

By December I'll have a Luigi quilt picture to share, and I am excited about it. The character will be around 3' x 4', and then surrounded by a green and black border to fit a Queen sized bed.
My instructions were simple and succinct: I don't care if people "get it". I want it to look like a classic quilt.
Sucker costs over $200usd in fabric/supplies alone, but this is worth it. The stitching will hold for decades, the pattern is near perfect, and it will be a quality product.
Can't wait to share pics.

Shenmue is worth your time. The Forklift is great and there's this motorcycle chase near the end of the game that's all kinds of epic.
Shenmue II takes Shenmue and improves it. It's just the ending.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Shenmue sounds like a hate it or love it type of game. I guess I'll just have to check it out for myself.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
It has it's flaws, Corny dialog, monotonous Job mini games. Unresolved ending....
But it has it's charm too.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
All this Shenmue hate I just can't understand, really. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but for someone who likes exploring and going through areas real slow, its a heck of a lot of fun. I've been replaying the first one just to exclusively get every clue in his notebook (and you get a lot more fun out of some of the lines of dialogue that you might miss that way).
As far as Shenmue II is concerned, it's just neat finding arcade games and toy machines in the weirdest of places (QTE Title in the school, After Burner in the underground fight club, and let's not forget the AM2 toy machine on the top floor of an abandoned building!) Plus, getting rare Dural toys from the Lucky Hit games and finding the best pawn shop to get the best price to sell them for to play more games. Heck, I even got the jackpot on the slot machine in that game. It's real fun if you take your time and slow down.

Only in Shenmue can "Where do Sailors hang out?" not sound gay.

Pretty much this...muhanad wrote:Shenmue sounds like a hate it or love it type of game. I guess I'll just have to check it out for myself.
Try not to see it as a game, but more as an experience. You'll enjoy it more that way...

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
The are game elements to Shenmue. The Fighting Engine in Game is superb but it's AM2 that's to be expected.
The massive fight at the end of Shenmue is epic right up there with the 100 Night Fight in Ninja Gaiden 2 on 360. and the 1 on 1 fights in Shenmue 2 are very technical and all kinds of fun.
I haven't played either Shenmue or Shenmue II in 10 years or more.
But I play Jet Set Radio all the time. I have it on both 360 and PS3 (thankfully as of right now it's free on PSN)
I dare say Jet Set Radio and Nights are Sega's Defining games. Nothing against Sonic though. Sonic Peaked with Sonic 2 and Sonic 3k. After Sonic 3k it was a rapid decline.
Wait I forgot to chime in how great Panzer Dragoon Zwei is. It doesn't cost your soul like
Saga does and it's much simpler than Orta, but it's no less intense either.
Orta is a gorgeous game though and Still looks good even now.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
It really shows off the DC's power, the game IMO is a bit slow, I saw it as more of an art show than a game when i was done playing it. A very expensive show (to Sega) that in many peoples eyes cost Sega their Hardware Dev department.
I rather have Sega hardware than Shenmue 2.
