If you really want Turtles in Time you can grab the Super Fami version for about $20 (or less if you look around).

Yeah, I've thought about going for Super Fami carts for that reason (when I can afford to buy games again, that is. Right now, I'm almost broke). I got a PC Engine awhile back because card-only PCE games are much more affordable than their TG16 equivalents (with the obvious exception of Magical Chase and the like).

I suppose it wouldnt bother me at all if Turtles in Time was considered a 'Rare and Valuable game' but really browsing around the net it doesnt come up much in lists like that.

Rarity doesn't necessarily equate to value. Popularity has more to do with value on a day to day basis.

Either way, I know this has pretty much just turned into me ranting because I don't have all the money I'd like to spend on this hobby Glad to see Im not the only one that thinks the way I do, but I can see where the opposite view is coming from as well.

Honestly, it just comes across as whining about prices. I'd like to pay less for games too, but if something is out of my price range, it just is.

TMNT IV sometimes sells for less, but there are plenty of $30+ ones sold every day. Digitpress only lists it as a 2, so yeah not rare at all. But it doesn't matter since it is popular. There is the recent animated show restart, the Michael Bay alien origin BS talk, and new recent TMNT game stuff going on. All of this along with the surge in retro gaming leads to higher prices on popular items.

The SNES is probably the most popular console for people to collect for in the United States.

Turtles in Time is one of the most popular games on the Super Nintendo.

This isn't rocket science.

If you want to game on the cheap for the SNES you're either going to have to be very patient and wait for some deals or emulate.

Or as other people have suggested get the Super Famicom versions of games that don't need to be in English.

I consider myself lucky that my local game store prices almost all of their NES, SNES, Genesis, Master System (on the odd occasion they have them) and N64 games at five bucks across the board. The pricier games are in a glass case, but even then, they rarely go higher than twenty. Their policy seems to be to make up in volume what they lose from not pricing games individually. I wish more stores did that.

Also, you can do what I did - discover consoles you missed out on as a kid. I have been having a blast getting into the Genesis over the past two years and the games are very affordable.
