Okay, after seeing some of the wonders performed by flash carts for the Nintendo DS, I've decided that I want one for Christmas this year. The thing of it is, there are a lot of them out there, and a few that get good mentions often.
M3 DS Real, CycloDS and R4 all get consistently good reviews, and a few others get mentioned.
Basically, I want to know which flash cart would be the best when it comes to ease of use and compatibility.
I'd mainly use it for running NES, GBA, and possibly SNES and Neo Geo emulation, as well running ScummVM DS and some of the homebrewed games out there. Music and video and stuff is possible, but not what I'd focus on. Which cart would be the best for running this, and would be the easiest to set up and use?

I wanted to be a Teminator but they require you have an armored hyperalloy skeleton and mine's mostly recycled truck tires.

Re: Best Nintendo DS Flash Cart for a Newbie
Since i am no longer keep track of the flashcarts on the DS the one thing i can tell you for sure is not to get a R4 and/or M3 DS Simply which basically the same thing. It may be great when it came out but it's outdated now.
Also if you want to play GBA roms a slot-1 flashcart isn't enough. They are two options either get a slot-2 flashcart which can play both DS and GBA games but they a few issues with this solution and... just forget it, slot-2 flashcarts are outdated now and last time i check they were still expensive.
So yeah, you will need a good slot-1 flashcart for NDS games plus an expansion slot-2 for GBA games. For more information you might want to check gbatemp.net if you don't already know the site. I heard the M3DS Real + the expansion pack is a good deal but right now they might be better solutions so do a little research first and wait for other people to reply. Just don't get a R4/M3 DS Simply! xD

Any drag and drop DS card is easy to use (R4, M3, DSTT, Cyclo, etc) many peeps here say the CycloDS is best because the developers are actively still working on firmware to make it better.
(FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

Acekard 2 is the best and one of the cheapest you can get, I'm going to be doing a review of it soon if you want to wait.

YSMenu is an absolute must-download for the DSTT. Just ctrl+f for "YSMenu" and you'll find the download link. Its way better than the firmware that card comes with. It's even faster, it sorts roms alphabetically instead of date written, and it just looks better. Simple and attractive. It also has very easy to use cheats, and reset function. Updated cheat database files found here.Kyle wrote:I prefer this one http://www.techsick.com/articles-guide- ... dstt.shtml

I have a CycloDS and it is amazing. It's done everything I've tried on it and has an active group of developers. Good stuff man.
