So basically he's pro cheap technology anti-excessive violence. Hardly surprising but I agree on both accounts. However, how cheap is cheap exactly? The Wii retails for more than at least one 360 model!

So when it comes to games, there are two ways the technology can be cheaper. The first is on the actual hardware itself. However, this is a one time savings, as a game console will last multiple years with the single purchase.
The other way they can be cheaper is through intentionally not trying to push the envelope from a graphical perspective, which is where a large portion of development cost ends up. You can have a game, such as Super Paper Mario, which looks professional and good, but isn't going for the ultra realism, like Crysis. By having a lower budget required to create the game, the game can be marketed for cheaper while still showing a profit.

I know he is anti violence.... but... man...
The wii is a great platform for an online shooter. It is almost like a mouse/keyboard. I had a blast with cod3 on the wii, but i wish i could get online.

I think that while Miyamoto is anti-violence, he is rational about it. He doesn't care for violent content, doesn't feel it is appropriate for kids, but still seems to acknowledge that it has a place, and some people enjoy it. What he doesn't like is how developers seem to be over relying on the violence, instead of producing some great gameplay where the worst you do is toss your mortal nemesis into a pit of lava, from which he subsequently escapes, singed but alive.
