Troll post.
Why is he a troll if he honestly feels that way? See, this is what I hate about the internet. It doesn't matter if you're not actually trolling. If you express an opinion contrary to the "majority" (more often than not a very vocal minority), you must be a troll. I disagree with that line of thinking on principle.

He has to be trolling. There is no other explanation. First Class was LEAGUES better than the Wolverine Origin movie. And I'm not even counting the bastardizing of Deadpool in the equation. I'm not even a giant Deadpool fan. Wolverine Origins is by every possible account awful. I will agree that Jackman is a good Logan/Wolvie but that's the ONLY thing they got right in Wolverine Origins.

I mean everything in that movie was just stupid, from a casting standpoint (Ok, maybe except for Reynolds as the normal Wade also), effects, story, plot progression, everything. It was awful. Horrible. There's no way you can call it better or even 'close' to First Class.

FC had it's problems, sure. But they are nowhere NEAR as bad or glaring as W:O.

Anyone seen RIPD yet? When I first saw trailers I was getting a bit of a MIB vibe, but I want to hear first hand experience from one of you guys before I spend the money.

I dunno, I think they have different problems but are both watchable films in their own way. Neither is more than mediocre, really, so i don't love W:O enough or dislike X:FC enough to have much to say about them other than I have (mostly that I prefer the cast and characters in W:O.) Both are improvements over X3.

Again, I wonder if my not having read the comics and your probably having read them is filtering our views in opposite directions.

Not really. I mean i know who the XMen are I like them, and I did read some X comics when I was a kid (mainly as a 10-13 year old). But I mainly stuck to guys like Superman, Spidey, Silver Surfer and teams like JLA and Avengers for the most part. And I stopped for quite a while.

I didn't really get back into reading comics regularly until I discovered Invincible, and this was maybe 4 years ago? 3?

I've been reading the comics on and off for almost 20 years (wow, I feel old now) and W:O is just like every Wolverine comic I ever read. I honestly don't see the problem. I'd probably flip the two around and rank W:O just below FC, though.

anyone see The Conjuring yet? Looks like it is getting good reviews and I am in the mood for some horror...
I saw it last weekend. It's got a lot of creepy moments and I had a couple of genuine chills run up my spine.

Overall, I would say it is very similar to Insidious (haunted house, tormented children, terrified family, similar imagery). But the acting is better (hurray for Farminga and Taylor) and it has a much better second half.
And by that I mean no one wanders off into dream/spirit world to go rescue anyone.
The ending might fell a little cliche, but that didn't bother me.

Oh, and according to previews you can expect Insidious Chapter 2 sometime soon.

They actually cut out the "ghost" voice over in that preview. Considering it's the same director, if what the voice said wasn't an intentional homage to Saw I'd be shocked.

I saw the original in 2010. Much more action and comedy than the first, and a slam dunk if you saw that.

I was gonna see that before this one after that trailer, but the negative reviews and MIB comparisons kinda turned me off to it.

I read that it was "the worst comic book adaptation since Jonah Hex" - which almost pushes into so-bad-its-good territory - so, I will probably skip it (or only watch it ironically).

Or you could, ya know, watch it unironically and decide for yourself whether you think it's good or not.

Or I could, ya know, not waste my time on a film that I had no interest in seeing and certainly have no interest in seeing now that it has been panned by nearly all respected film critics.

There are too many good movies that I will never see, and life is too short to waste on things that I probably will not enjoy or respect. That said, RIPD may be the greatest film ever made, and it might have changed my life irrevocably for the better. Based on the reviews that it is received to date, I really doubt it, however, and I think all but two of my fellow forum members would probably be better served spending our time and money on something else.
