When I first screened Man of Steel there was nothing more that I wanted to do than watch Man of Steel. Watched it alone, got really into the first ten minutes and felt the Earth Father stuff as a great way to solidify Clark's moral values.
I didn't care much for the third act, but when I left the theater I thought "Way better than Returns, and I think Superman fans will consider it the best movie of the year. I thought it was pretty great, but the Lois love interest didn't make sense".
On my second viewing with a packed theater, I did more of a 90 than a 180. The audience's lack of reaction to anything in the movie didn't change my mind, it was that I watched it objectively and wasn't wowed that a Superman movie better than Returns is on the big screen. I shouldn't have been.
It's not a terrible movie, but a lot of it is inexplicable, it doesn't hold a non Superman fan's attention, and it is too long.
I liked SPIDER-MAN when it first came out. Find it awful now. But I can assure you I've never flip flop flipped. There's a lot to seeing a movie to me, and sometimes my first viewing is not enough for me.
What was the last movie you've seen?

Wolverine wearing boxing gloves was the funniest thing that happened in 2009.

I thought the first one was the best one. The second one was okay, but after it's been mostly full retard.
