Already done. From the makers of Sharknado and other memorable classics like Transmorphers and American Battleship. Thanks, The Asylum.
Anyway I think there's a lot of room for a sequel.
I doubt they blew up the entire alien race. They probably just really, really pissed them off.
From what I've seen Del Toro already has a sequel in mind. The movie tied up the story I guess, but when talking about something like this there really is no ceiling on sequel possibilities, ridiculous sequel or not.
Justice League's not coming til 2017. I don't think they've decided whether ryan reynolds is coming back. I seriously doubt he is, considering Man of Steel, which is the foundation for the Justice Leage movie, has mankind having their first encounter with aliens. While Green Lantern also featured mankind having their first encounter with aliens. Incompatible.
They should go with the John Stewart version anyway, these superhero teams need some color outside of their outfits.

Hal, Guy, or Kyle would make a more interesting character. I know John is more well-known among the non-comic reading audience due to the Justice League cartoon, but he's boring.

When I first read this comment I was confused, but completely onboard. Then I read BurningDoom's post and realized he was one of the lesser known Green Lanterns, and not a reference to the Daily Show doing a take on Green Lantern.

I'm not voting for or against the use John but I really won't be surprised if they do pick him, much like they did for the DCAU, for diversity's sake. I doubt WB cares what would make a more interesting character.
And really, no matter who they choose for the Lantern in Justice League, he'll only as interesting as they manage to write him.
