I do not want to buy another Saturn. And I just want BIOS installed. This way I can put any Saturn game in the console from any country or region and play the game automatically. No cart bypasses or switches required.

Yeah perhaps most difficult to get perfect are fussy PAL games who play better at 50hz.
A separate mod from BIOS and needs compatible TV/cables.

VCD card some JP games use slides right in. Though all I own to use mine is the Bruce Willis movie Unbreakable.

*edit*

Maybe check if Snowkitty has done it before?
Thanks for the tip. I sent him a PM. But I don't know. He only accepts cash or money order and that scares me a little.

That is a valid concern and certainly not near as convenient... but Snowkitty is a long time racketboy member (6 years +) with tons of great feedback and solid reputation. I dont think you would have anything to worry about and he could do the job! *thumbs up*

I think he was just pointing out that the service plus shipping to and from a modder would be about the cost of a console only JP saturn. But what you want is way more convenient. Keep us posted and I hope you find someone that can help you.

A JP saturn offers less, won't play EU games.

I managed to get in contact with Snowkitty who says he might be able to do the mod. But is there anyone else who can install the bios? Someone who has done it before and who has the chip? I would really appreciate the help.

No, it doesn't use any switches. You're probably thinking of the switchless region mod. Some one modified the BIOS and removed the region check, so the system is actually region free with no switches or anything. There's simply just no region check. The guy also tried to remove the authenticity check but it was a no-go for whatever reason (but I'm hoping for it one day!). Anyways, you actually remove the BIOS ROM and replace it with an EPROM or whatever.

+1

I've bought from and sold to SnowKitty in the past. With his track record and feedback on this site, you have little to fear.

I know exactly what the mod entails, and I know of mods he has done in the past. If he can make a Star Fox 2 repro and install PS2 mod chips, then he is more than capable of installing the region free BIOS in a Saturn.

Do we have a multi BIOS like the Sega CD yet? It'd be funny to switch bootup logo at will.

No, but we have a region free BIOS for the Dreamcast that uses the start up animation from a developers DC...
