IDK something like 90 percent of my listening habits maybe? I occasionally branch out to punk or industrial (or really anything, I'm pretty open to new stuff honestly), and I guess there's also all of Devin Townsend's less... metal sounding stuff.

I don't think you're really all that "weird" in terms of tastes, as I've known huge metal guys who listen to all kinds of other stuff.

Like 80% for me. I listen to a little rock and classic rock, but the large majority of what I listen to is metal.

Depends from the day/week/month, but usually it's 40% video game music 40% electronic music and 20% metal. Then there's the occasional Marty Robbins/nostalgic punk or rap song that I heard in a video game.

Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

   Hahaha, that is so random man. But good taste, nonetheless.

Y'know, there's a lot of country that could do good with a doom metal cover... if I could play an instrument, my dream would be to start a country/doom metal band named Doomed Cowboy, and my first cover would be Ring of Fire. That would be so kickass.

On the amount, I'd say I'm about 60% forms of country, and about 40% metal.

Oh yeah, I don't think this was posted here
Burzum Frontman Varg Vikernes Arrested in France on Suspicion of Planning a "Massacre"
“Having received the manifesto before (Breivik) committed his crimes and having been sentenced in Norway in the past for murder, this individual, who was close to a neo-Nazi movement, was likely to prepare a large terrorist act,” Valls said. Cachet, who belongs to a shooting club, bought the rifles legally
Seems to me like a case of thought crime. Though he has committed multiples crimes in the past, it still seems odd that the police would arrest him for a crime he hasn't committed nor talked about committing just because his wife bought some rifles (legally).
Now media is reporting everywhere that he's a neo nazi, even though he's stated that despite his far right views he does not support nazism as he doesn't support socialism nor materialism and he supports democracy and doesn't have a problem with slavs like nazis did. Which is especially odd when you consider that media is also trying to link him to Anders Breivik, a man who's certainly not a nazi.

Anyway, here's some ambient by Burzum
Burzum - Tomhet

Ain't I Right  I kind of got into country for a little while after hearing A country boy can survive by Hank Williams Jr, but overall I don't feel much like listening to country because it's so southern based - I feel kind of out of place as foreigner listening to stuff that praises Dixie in every song  Alabama's Dixieland delight has universal appeal though. Also I kind of find the stereotypical redneck accent that many country guys sing with to be too funny to be taken seriously. The Western part of country&western I could get into though, love the theme, love the music of Western movies&games and I think the stereotypical cowboy accent sounds bad ass, so why not.

We talked quite a bit about the Varg thing, though it's sense been buried in pages of... something.

Varg's been released now btw. They found no evidence of any sort of "massacre planning," but slapped him with a "hate speech" charge for some of the race stuff on his blog anyway.

I'm not really wanting to defend Varg's views by any means, but I guess being American makes me raise an eyebrow at the fact that you can get charged with a crime there for saying things on a blog outside of (perceived) threats of violence. Meh.

Varg's shitty for a lot of reasons, but he didn't have any ties to Breivik. Varg openly condemned his actions.

At this point probably 80%.

The other 20% is hardcore punk, emo/screamo, crust, industrial, ambient, post-punk, neofolk, gothic rock, video game music, etc...

A decade ago the answer would have been swapped completely though, as only about 20% of the music I listened to was metal.

I know that at least part of the reason Varg is against Breivik and his idealism is that Breivik is strongly Christian, or so I understand.

Both of the men have interesting ideology though. I don't agree with them, but it is interesting. Varg is a supremacist, at least as far as I can tell, but he doesn't follow Christianity, which is odd. That's out of place with most supremacist fronts, including Stormfront, who is known for using so many Nordic symbols and such.

Breivik is interesting because he isn't a supremacist, but just extremely prejudiced against Islam and its followers. I also find it interesting he is, in his own words, "an extreme right Zionist". That is really interesting. Sounds like somebody who would be up for a modern day crusade...

Well, I just mean to say neither of them are really in line with other expected forms of extreme ideology. Being from Europe, I would see them as being much more likely to be extreme left wing, for one, and certain areas of their belief don't really fit with other extreme right wing groups. That seems interesting to me, in the same way as gang violence and such interests me- in a morbid way others view poorly. Some metalheads do satanism, I do acts of violence and extreme ideologies. Sludge is rubbing off on me.
