What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

There's a reason for that since a lot of those shows were dubbed into Spanish in the 60's-80's and they were pretty popular.

Guillermo del Toro grew up with stuff like Mazinger Z and Tetsujin 28 and it's really apparent that he loved what he was doing in the film.

I knew if anyone on the board enjoyed Pacific Rim as much as I did it would be you  .

Dale and Tucker vs. Evil

It is now one of my favorite movies on netflix. Best goofy horror comedy ever :). I would post up the trailer but it would completely ruin the movie :P. They literally spoil 80% of the good parts in the trailer :P.

I have completely given up trying to figure out the chronology of those movies. First, we had three movies and a prequel. All well and good, right? Well then, they had to mess it up by making X-Men: First Class. FC is a great movie, to be sure, but it cannot possibly be in the same universe/timeline as the others as there's a buttload of inconsistencies, and not minor ones, either*. Then they did The Wolverine, which supposedly takes place after The Last Stand. Okay, fine. But now, they're gonna do Days Of Future Past (which should be amazing if they do it right) and who the hell knows where that's gonna fit in. I give up.

*Inconsistencies are more forgivable in a comic book that's been going for fifty years, but I expect more from a film series.
I'm not a glitch, I just have pixlexia.

Well, if it follows the comic, Days of the Future Past takes place in the Future, and then they travel back into the present at some point.

Yeah I wouldn't say anyone would have to be into that stuff to enjoy it. But I've seen complaints about characters and plot being "stupid"/not good, not fleshed out, etc. But I have to question the person that goes into that movie for anything but over the top action unless they know nothing about it or something.

Now that you mention... I'm surprised I didn't think of that myself. I think he struck the perfect balance. There was enough there to gather that the people behind it were clearly working with the genre, but it wasn't overwhelming and didn't get in the way.

That reminds me of the first time I saw Dragon Ball Z. I saw plenty of episodes in Spanish before I ever saw the show in English.

As for Pacific Rim itself, it is criminal that it couldn't beat out dross like Grown Ups.

I haven't had more fun at a movie in quite a while. I was smiling for most of the movie.

You can really tell that it was a labor of love. Here's hoping it can have some legs at the box office and shake off the flop label.

Not much chance of that, unfortunately. After Earth is perceived as a flop because it only made 30 million in its opening weekend (which is stupid as that's a perfectly respectable opening for most films). It doesn't matter that it ultimately made 214 million on a budget of 130, people see it as a flop and in this business, once you get that label, you can't shake it. It's incredibly idiotic, but that's the way it is.

Pacific Rim definitely seems destined for the cult classic label.

I don't really mind if there's a sequel or not since I got what I wanted and they buttoned it up nicely while leaving room for more stories within the universe. If any studio would make a sequel it's Legendary though, as long as they make their money back. They pretty much funded the entire thing themselves anyway. Hellboy flopped domestically but ultimately profited and they went ahead with another.
