You can disable trophy notifications now. That's the first thing I did after the last PS3 update.Pulsar_t wrote:I don't like to gamify my gaming so those kinds of services don't interest me. Also I've never understood the achievement pop-ups "ruining" the experience notion. Maybe if it paused the game or had to be manually shut out or something, but no, it's just a tiny window that makes a ding noise in the corner of the screen for 2 seconds. I really fail to see the problem.

I never really got that either.brunoafh wrote: Also I've never understood the achievement pop-ups "ruining" the experience notion. Anyway, yeah it's not so much the trophies/achievements I care about (on Raptr) as much as if I see a friend is getting a lot of them, that kind of means he's really into a single game. It sort of can encourage you to start playing along y'know? And it's a nice easy way to browse some of your friends' collection or recently played games.
I do agree that Nintendo support would be good though. But at least for now 360, Steam and PS3 stuff is nice. It even picked up on PSN stuff like Vampire Resurrection when I was playing that - I guess cuz of the trophies? I hadn't noticed it wasn't tracking hours on PS3.

Some people are more aware of their surroundings (or the corners of their game screen) and some are more focused. Some will be bothered and others will not.

Yeah, I love the trophy/achievement pop ups. My mind has an almost pavlovian response when I hear a trophy or achievement sound effect, and it feels good. To me, each time one of those things pops up it's like the game just told me I'm awesomebrunoafh wrote:Don't you mean the o?MrPopo wrote:And it leaves off the 'e' in an attempt to be trendy.

But then again, I don't worry much about "immersion" when I game. It's something few games can really accomplish for me anyway so I don't worry about getting "taken out of the experience" like some people say when an achievement or trophy pops up

The achievement/trophy system is a blessing and a curse to my gaming experience.
On one hand it makes me go further in a game than I normally would or try other modes just so I can try to break my desired threshold of half of the achievements per game. On the other hand I have an unconscious fear of even booting up certain games in my Xbox because then I'm committed to some serious game time so my score isn't pathetic. I even have a mini panic attack on some primal level if someone uses my profile to play an unknown game without prior authorization.
I can only imagine that Raptr would magnify these mental instabilities because I'd have a nagging reminder that Stark and Dave know that noise is better than me at something.
