its basically a miniscule laptop, not just a gaming machine... but yeah, if you only want a gaming machine then £200 is excessive.

Too bad Pandora is over 300 dollars. Way too much for something like that. Yes, I know all the features it has, still doesn't seem worth it.gibberoids wrote:forget the gizmondo, check out pandora: http://pandorawiki.org/Pandora

you're an idiot then.
how much is a psp new... about £110?
now consider a psp but make it almost twice as powerful, overclockable to almost 3x as powerful.
lets double the amount of RAM too.
swap the screen for something with double the resolution of the psp screen, oh and make it a touchscreen whilst were at it.
include a full keyboard and a full, customisable operating system.
now think about the hundreds (thousands?) of pieces of software that will be readily available to run on it.
not to mention the vastly superior gaming controls.
might as well chuck in bluetooth while were here.
and lets not forget that it even has a *proper* web browser (firefox3)
you think an extra £90 is too much to ask for something like that?
i hate to do the whole PSP comparison but unfortuneatly its all a lot of people seem to be able to grasp.

Re: Gizmondo
I reckon it'll flop, I have not heard about it until I just rad about it here!
I am looking at this on ebay, I'm very, very tempted
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-2008-nintendo ... 911.c0.m14
I have been finding my handhelds all over the house lately, been playing my gameboy advance with sonic advance in the kitchen and the gameboy colour (pokemon edition, I'm so cool
) everywhere else
The fact that thing is a console, telly (well sort of) and mp3 player for the money is a bargain.

hes not an idiot. If he doesnt feel its worth it its his opinion. I dont think its worth it either. Might as well get an Asus EEE 900 off ebay for that price. All it seems to be is a beefed up NEC MobilePro thats marketed towards gamers.gibberoids wrote:futuramaguy42 wrote:Too bad Pandora is over 300 dollars. Way too much for something like that. the pre-orders sold out in less than 1 day, they had to organise a bigger first run with the factory to accomodate the extra 1200 people that wanted to buy one. theyve already made a profit off it as well so to put it bluntly, its succeeded completely and its not even out yet.silverback wrote:I reckon it'll flop, I have not heard about it until I just rad about it here!

Re: Gizmondo
well theyre completely different beasts. pandora is portable, and by portable i mean that it comfortably sits in your pocket. good luck fitting an eeepc in your pocket.RyaNtheSlayA wrote: Might as well get an Asus EEE 900 off ebay for that price.
plus pandora is tailored towards games, itll be much more powerful than an eee in that respect. it has a similar graphics chip that the dreamcast had in it, except its a newer revision so is marginally more powerful.
Re: Gizmondo
Yeah so? Are you expecting Soul Calibur: Pandora Edition? As much as I find the 'open movement' fascinating, it's just not ripe for gaming just yet. This platform is more expensive than the PSP and doesn't emulate any major consoles that a hacked PSP already cannot. The logical step is to get an EeePC and a small joypad.. At least then you can surf the web and do word processing on it too.

Re: Gizmondo
well im certainly expecting soul blade. and soul calibur isnt out of the question if dreamcast emulation ever takes off (the guy that ported the dreamcast emulator for the PSP has said he is going to concentrate all his efforts into getting it to playable speeds on pandora - he also thinks its possible to do so).Pulsar_t wrote:Yeah so? besides that, 3 companies have already said theyre going to be producing commercial games for the platform, 2 of which were very well known for the games they released on dreamcast.
so actually, soul calibur pandora edition isnt as far fetched as you might imagine.
you can do word processing on pandora, although it remains to be seen how comfortable the keyboard is there is nothing stopping you using a roll out usb one.Pulsar_t wrote:The logical step is to get an EeePC and a small joypad.. At least then you can surf the web and do word processing on it too.
you can also surf the web with pandora, it ships with firefox3.
