Shin Megami Tensei IV
Re: Shin Megami Tensei IV
If a game is obviously unfair and uses that to artificially extend it, I can see easy mode. SMT4 allows you to save anywhere, so I can't see it as a reasonable option.
Re: Shin Megami Tensei IV
That's true. Depends on the game, gamer, and the genre. I WISH I had played The Last of Us on hard because normal ended up being too baby time.Stark wrote:I moved Bayonetta to Easy and enjoyed it way more (although I still haven't finished it), so I think it depends on the gamer and the genre.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei IV
Yeah another great example. It was a bit tougher early on with less firepower and ammo. After upgrades and more weapons and such thw game became easy with essentially the same enemiesZenErik wrote:That's true. Depends on the game, gamer, and the genre. well obviously I haven't played it yet, so was just curious based on those reviews I read.dsheinem wrote:If a game is obviously unfair and uses that to artificially extend it, I can see easy mode. SMT4 allows you to save anywhere, so I can't see it as a reasonable option.
(Your defensiveness makes me think you might be a closet-Easy Moder.)

Re: Shin Megami Tensei IV
I should also note that, in change from many other SMT games, the main character dying is combat IS NOT game over. That combined with being able to save anytime should be major frustration reducers. Along with easy mode.
Atlus really went out of their way to please hardcore SMT fans with the usual difficulty and fantastic gameplay. But also to appeal to people that are totally new to the main series games and may have really only played Persona, if anything.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei IV
I prefer it when there is no "easy" mode but "normal" is the lowest difficulty (and default) setting.
Something like:
Normal
Hard
Really Hard
Insane
7th Saga + Wizardry IV
Doesn't feel like you're "cheating" this way.
Shining Force II was like this, from what I recall.
