I think the most annoying thing is that after you craft a badge, you lose those cards. I'd rather they locked them in to your account or something. Having them go just made me sad....

I've just been selling extras and then using the money to buy cards I don't have. Saves the hassle of trading.

This. And since the values of the cards drop each day I can always afford the cards I need when tomorrow rolls around, even figuring in Steam's cut.

The real question is, would it make more sense to sell these now or later? 8) They're in less demand now, but game prices are also lower. They'll be worth more later, but the game prices will be higher.

Am I correct that after this sale ends, the Summer Sale cards will no longer be given out? Because that should significantly increase the value. Of course, I only have a couple commons at the moment.
Black DSi, Pink GBC, Softmodded Wii, Softmodded Fat Ps2, Black Gamecube, Xbox, Dreamcast, Ps1 Slim, Atomic Purple GBC, Onyx GBA SP, Gears of War 3 Edition Xbox 360 Slim, PSP 3000, NES.

Sell now. People get caught up in the meta game and have to have the badge RIGHT NOW so prices are still high. Case in point, I won a Borderlands 2 booster pack yesterday, which I sold for $2 on the market. It was three random cards, the standard six for Borderlands 2 go for sub 20 cents each.

I plan on getting the summer badge, but I am behind because I sold alot of my summer cards early because they were going for a decent amount. Now they all go for around 20 cents.

I just need Kerbal and Chivalry for the sale.

How/when do they offer booster packs for other games? I got the 3 drops for B2 very quickly the other day....is there some rule about hours/regularity/etc in order to get more drops?

From my experimenting it is simply an amount of time you are in a game for your primary drops, and it seems to varies per game. I idled in Castle Crashers for two hours and got all three, but made two runs in L4D2 (about an hour) and did not get any.

Booster packs are seemingly random. The official word is that when an unknown number of badges are crafted random users will get booster packs. There is talks that the higher your level the more likely you are to get a pack, but there is no official ruling yet - to my knowledge.

Higher level giving you a greater chance to get a pack is actually spelled out in the official FAQ. Every 10 levels gives you an extra 20% of the base chance to get a booster.
