Light Years/Gandahar is... good? I guess? Its got a decent premise, and apparently the screenplay was written or adapted by Asimov, I can't remember. It just suffers from the "80s animation" plague that affected animated-not-for-kids films of the time. It's got a cool time travel paradox thing goin on. I do like it, but I wouldn't say its amazing or anything.

How do you have Light Years? DVD? VHS? I dont think it ever got a proper DVD release but I could be wrong.
VHS. I picked it up at Goodwill for $1. I figured if it wasn't good, no big loss. But I eat up that 80s American "adult" animation because Japanese anime often looks far too cutesy for my tastes, and most American animation is too kiddy.

I wish they'd make more of these. I want more "bad-ass" in my anime, which those provided.

I saw THE HOST and PACIFIC RIM recently. THE HOST is a movie from a Stephanie Meyer novel that was actually a pretty good read. The movie is pretty terrible, even though it had Saoirse Ronan, whom I loved in HANNA. It could have been a lot better, but I think the way the book was written definitely didn't translate well to the big screen and the director didn't have a good way to do it. Oh well.

PACIFIC RIM was fantastic and everything I wanted from a summer blockbuster. Creature design on the kaiju was super great and you could tell that Toro had a hand in it. I thought the way the theme music changed for the Russian and Chinese teams was great although I think those two teams were really underused. All in all a great romp.

Funny, but a rental at best.

Decent "Hangover"-style R-rated comedy, but worth seeing at least once.
