My Collection:
I had the Sega Mega Drive growing up but never actually owned any games for it. I had the power base converter and my 4 Master System games. I was able to hire games out and did all my Mega Drive gaming this way. I'm pretty sure that my unfulfilled desire to have a shelf full of games let to my compulsive aquisition of games as an adult (thanks mum and dad).
I bought my first Mega Drive games in about 2003, when I found a Mega Drive 1 at a record store with columns, a wrestling game and something else, all cart only. Then I found MK3 and Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition cart only at a pawn shop for $6.00 each. The MD1 died very quickly and I forgot about collecting until '05 when a friend gave me a pile of games and a Mega Drive 2. Soon after another friend had bought a setup from a retro gaming shop but got sick of it in about 5 minutes and gave me the games and system. I slowly got back into the exciting world of Sega Mega Drive until I was scouring pawn shops and markets wherever they appeared.
This is the beginning of my collection so far. First post will be my top shelf boxed games. I mean that both literally and figuratively; they live on the top shelf and are of exceptional quality and/or are in beautiful condition. I usually leave the stickers on. I understand that some people are annoyed by that but I like the way the stickers give a bit of history to the individual game. Plus I usually make a mess of it anyway... Without further ado...
