So is there a way to give duplicates to others? I decided to see what the fuss was about and began playing Half-Life 2 to get the final achievement I'm missing, and now I've got a set of duplicates. Do I really have to sell them, or can I just hand one off to a friend?

The idea is to trade them, but you can sell them too. They seem kind of interesting, but I'm a little annoyed that you can only get half the cards through drops, and some of those drops are potentially duplicates. The biggest improvement for me with this whole thing is the much better profile pages.
My games for sale: Racketboy, Amazon, eBay
My systems: NES, Nintendo 64, GameCube (Game Boy Player), Wii / Game & Watch: Ball, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance SP (x2), Nintendo DSi / Genesis (Sega CD, 32X), Saturn / Game Gear / PlayStation, PlayStation 2 / Xbox / Mac (Windows PC) / iPhone, iPad

And apparently there's some kind of rare "booster pack," but no telling exactly how rare those will be.

Steam Trading Cards are simply Valve making more money off us. Think about it. They give you cards for buying games, playing games, or randomly. And either you collect more of them by trading or buy buying them. And if you buy them, they get a cut. If you sell them, they get a cut. Just looking at one of the cards I was looking at yesterday for Castle Crashers there were something like 1000 sold last week. Each card made Valve atleast .01 USD. So in that Castle Crasher card alone they made about $10 USD.

Whoever at Valve thought this up was a bloody genius. And yes, they have made money off of me...

I am not attached to my cards in any way at all so i will be selling mine off as soon as my account is old enough. I am not interested in the cards, so it just means a little more money in my steam wallet.

Yeah you can trade em. We should start doing that on here.

EDIT: I have a dup for The Swapper if any one needs it.

I've been selling the duplicates I get from voting on the marketplace and used that to fill out my summer badge. So I suppose Steam has made money off of me, but I haven't put any of my own money into their system (aside from a purchase of Civ V Gold and BNW, but that was going to happen with or without cards).

I'm not sure how much I care about collecting them, but I think I have 2 dupes so far so could trade I suppose. I'll check later.

Yeah I don't want to spend any money on it, but I think I'd expend a little effort to trade and complete sets.
