New Futurama Starts Tonight!
Re: New Futurama Starts Tonight!
I picked up on them being a tad more crude, but I didn't even put any thought into it.

Re: New Futurama Starts Tonight!
So I thought I'd bump this thread being that I posted it when Futurama was coming to Comedy Central, and now it is departing (or ending).
You can't tell me Futurama isn't still gold. Milk would have came out my nose (if I was drinking milk) at the end of the Fast and Furious episode when Bender pops out, lights 3 cigars simultaneously with a candle stick he stole earlier in the episode, throws the candle stick back in his compartment, slams the door and says, "We're back, baby!" Or the most recently aired episode, right in the beginning, and this is not a direct quote, but, "Minors are trapped in the Sun mine. They may never not see the light of day again." The one liners have been so funny.
Now that they're leaving Comedy Central, I'll try to remain optimistic that they'll get picked up by another network and/or make another movie. I was so glad that they were coming back with new seasons that I over looked some of the Comedy Central changes that pissed me off. The most obvious one being the shortened episodes. The intro is cut short (in half?) which annoys me. There's now TWO commercial breaks instead of just one. For a half hour show? Two breaks? Give me a break (but not two haha). Hmm, no, that's about it with things that pissed me off.
Maybe not the most well written post, but hey, I'm tired.

I didn't realize that Futurama's been back on, but I fortunately have a couple new episodes on my DVR right now. I can't wait to watch!

I'm actually glad they're going to be stopping. I felt like there was some redemption of the series in a few of the later episodes in Season 7 part 1, and I'd rather they just pour their efforts into continuing that short streak of episodes that almost live up to the original run.
I'm not entirely sure what happened, but the movies were all right--not great, but watchable--then they started crapping on the brand with episodes that seemed to mimic later Family Guy episodes, and other similar shows that can't keep a line of thought for 10 seconds, let alone a 21-minute episode. I thought the humor turned base, story lines uninteresting, and overall pacing much too fast--as if to keep up with this new age of attention deficits.
tl;dr - Whatever happened midway through part 1 of Season 7, I hope they continue with, and go out on a high note.

Re: New Futurama Starts Tonight!
Futurama is awesome and IMO should have outlasted the Simpsons. I'm amazed that it died and came back to last this long. The content is just slightly too far off for what most mainstream viewers are into. I'll start laughing my ass off at some clever quip or start blabbing on about the brilliance of the script for Bender's Big Score and my wife will look at me like I'm from another dimension.
There is hope though. David Cohen did say that he'd be interested in making another direct-to-DVD or a theatrical release at this point as well.

Haha, the Saturday morning cartoon episode was hilarious. I think the Scooby Doo segment was the funniest. I was afraid when the third segment turned out to be GI Joe, I never use to watch that one, but luckily they took a different direction.
Time for a WATER BALLOON. Wow, that was quite a splash!

I don't even know how The Simpsons even lasted this long. It turned to shit a long long time ago. Tbh i like it more than Family Guy. Futurama is more intellectually engaging.

What I like about Futurama is its consistency. With Family Guy, you can point to a bunch of brilliant episodes, and more than a handful of shitty ones. Futurama is almost always good. Even South Park has had its fair share of crap episodes

I really hate south park. It gets on my nerves. Fg is more slapstick and Futurama is more satire.Gamerforlife wrote:What I like about Futurama is its consistency.
