Interesting Burningdoom, I always thought myself, and shared by the general consensus, tjat Robocop 2 was a decent sequel, but 3 was the turd.

For the most part I don't really enjoy movies, and I hate movie theatres. But as a huge mecha fan I think I'm gonna go see it and see what's up. I'm wondering if there is an IMax around here or whatever, not that I even know what it is.
Trust me, you will LOVE IT. If you're anything like me you'll grin like a dope at all the classic mecha references. Del Toro and everyone else who worked on this movie know the Super Robot genre and for fans seeing this movie, they really delivered.

That being said, someone who doesn't get the genre might find the film a little average overall (besides the stunning visuals) but for a mecha fan the whole thing was pure candy.

If not IMAX then see it in 3D at the very least. I hate 3D usually but it was so well done in Pacific Rim. It was toned down when it wasn't needed and in-your-face when it was.

I've seen all the big action flicks so far this summer and this one was by far my favorite.

Indeed. For me it's:

Robocop: 80's action movie masterpiece. A smart parody of 80's capitalism combined with over-the-top violence. Kershner and Dekker have nothing on Verhoeven's crazy directing style.

Robocop 2: Watchable but stupid. Just more of the same from the first film but not nearly as polished.

Robocop 3: Almost intolerably stupid. Lost its sharp-witted cynicism and became kind of cartoony.

Frank Miller also worked on Robocop 2 and the spectacular "Robocop vs. Terminator" comic which I highly recommend (the one from 1992 not the more recent one which is awful). It would've made a better movie than Robocop 3 that's for sure.

Just got back from Despicable Me 2. Funniest movie of the summer not starring Seth Rogen.

Seriously, I thought I was going to bust a gut in the last ten minutes or so. Tears on the cheeks. Genuine giddiness. Great fun.
The "I Swear" bit was one of the finest parodies I've seen in all of animated film, and the "YMCA" bit right after it was pretty awesome as well.
Most importantly, it seems clear that the animators studied the greats of cartoon slapstick. Timing, expression, sound, and visual exaggeration have to line up just perfectly for slapstick to work just right, and they nailed it time and again in this film. Bravo.

Comparisons to Monsters U are a false equivalency completely unwarranted. Checkers and chess.

So RoboCop fighting an 11-year drug pusher (in Robocop 2) is more exciting than Robocop helping the city fight for their homes against the OCP Corporation (in Robocop 3)?

Robocop 2 felt like a cheesy movie that was pandering to kids more than they were trying to make an actual good movie. Robocop 3 had a little bit of that rebels vs. the evil empire feel to it which made it a bit better to me.

I don't understand the consensus if it indeed is, like was said.

I hope that we can all agree that Robocop 1 wipes the floor with both the sequels, though.

Yeah, honestly I won't waste my breath getting into an argument over Robocop 2 vs. Robocop 3 because ultimately they're both pretty lousy while the original is a true classic.

This guy made Robocop 3 the best one, you're all crazy.

Joking obviously, but yeah I would agree that any talk about Robocop 2 vs 3, is ultimately, which one is stupider.

When I saw 'em a few years back, I didn't think they were as bad as everyone said they were to be honest. They're nowhere near as good as the first, but they're not terrible.

I thought Robocop fights Cain in human and robot form throughout the movie. And OCP as always is the bad guy. This movie is definitely not aimed for kids. I think they had the kid in there as a reflection of societys views of how bad some of our youth had become.

Saw Pacific Rim in 3D and I felt that it really added to an already fantastic movie. Planning on seeing it again tomorrow with my son and my sister during a matinee showing. Ticket prices are crazy... BUT I NEED MORE KAIJU!

And kids laughed their hineys off, even if they didn't get the reference.
