The answer is simple then:

I'm not sure why the hell I'm bothering, but modern cars aren't designed to survive a bad crash, they're designed to make you survive the crash. Extreme example, but anyone who believes the "old huge all metal cars are safer" bullshit needs to wake the fuck up.

30 mile an hour rear hit. Frame is bent and things are distorted all the way up to the back of the cab. It is hosed and one would never be able to fix it and have it be safe or drive right again. I imagine the rolled truck has never been quite right either.

Why the family has managed to roll 3 vehicles?

I did miss that part. But Ranchero =/= El Camino. El Camino, with flames, is the coolest car you can have.

Anyway, this is the correct answer. Safety and utility, as long as done correctly.

My sister is literally one of the worst drivers on the planet.

My dad, on the other hand, got broadsided by a drunk person running a red light.

The '70 wasn't the same, no, we've had to sell it of course, but I honestly don't know if he would of survived in a newer truck. A broadside to the driver door hit, and he walked away with no injuries? That's enough to sway my opinion.

And that Volvo thing? HAHAHAHA no.

I also mentioned I had been considering swapping to El Camino, but our family is die-hard Ford.

What was the car that hit him? I'm guessing it was a smaller vehicle.
