Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Bioshock Infinite look like fine games. They'd probably be really fun to play.
But both of them are over rated as hell, and aren't even good in the primary area that people claim they are good.
Human Revolution's story comes across as preachy, boring, and overly complicated. The characters are cardboard cutout cliche's, and the character models have a horrible uncanny valley effect for me.
Bioshock Infinite fairs better simply by looking like a more fun game, even though ironically I have a larger number of issues with it. It's plot seems full of holes (Time travel tends to do that, regardless of the medium). And from everything I've seen it pales in comparison to the first two Bioshock games, not to say it isn't good on some of it's own merits. But only being able to carry two weapons at a time, the less interesting world/characters, and how much more linear it is all make it look like an empty husk in comparison to the amazing titles that came before it.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.
And I don't believe a character can ever be truly interesting or compelling if they don't talk.
I would love to play an RPG where the silent protagonist is actually mute, and has to realistically deal with it, but still manages to make friends and save the world.

The fact that you're saying this while sporting an MGS avatar is funny to me.

(I haven't played HR)
Okay, you have a point.
I admit the same stuff could easily be said about MGS, but I find it far more engaging.

No...? I never got why people said Other M ruined Samus, Samus was never much of a character in the first place. Could have been Link in that space suit and no one would ever have guessed.

Are they overrated when compared to the games that preceded them? Yes. Are they overrated when compared to rest of the thrash that's out today? No. "They'd probably be really fun to play." And how can you know if they are overrated if you've never played them?
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games) Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Would like to take you serious but when you say all games released today are trash then one has to take anything you say about any recent release with a bit of skepticism. That is unless they too dismiss any modern game.
