I remember playing the NES version of that game. How the heck did that even get made, lol.

Anyway I was playing it and my mom came in and freaked the eff out at how violent it was. I told her they were cops, and she cooled off.

Like many of us, i've had friends / family killed by drunks and / or speeders.

There are very few places that i've been where the limit wasn't at or very near what is appropriate. The idea that "i'm only going 5-7 over..." is asinine. If it was deemed safe by the people we elect locally and statewide to stay at or under that limit, we should abide by that. If it was safe to go "5-7mph" over, it would be posted as "5-7mph" over.

30 miles an hour seems slow. Stand next to a car as it goes by at 30 miles an hour. It isn't slow and it's enough to kill you. Each mile added exponentially increases your ability to react as well as the likelihood of graver injury to the object or person you hit.

Everyone should slow down, or be prepared to get the ticket. And no, don't wear a fancy suit and whatever other mumbo-jumbo to get out of the ticket. Pay the ticket and thank God people are out there enforcing and keeping you and yours safe.

I know. The game is ridiculous. I love how the cops drive a porsche and the urban streets are <literally> swarming with criminals (kind of like repo's conception of NYC). Although you can "arrest" the criminals, it is much, much easier to simply kill them all with machine guns and RPGs (which send severed body parts flying through the air). It is like a parody of 1980s, right-wing, revenge fantasy films such as Dirty Harry and Death Wish. I remember taking it completely seriously when it was released, however, and I love the fact that the violence - unlike the violance in the later-released Mortal Kombat - was fine because the "police" were perpetrating it on worthless, drug-addicted "criminals". ("If that is what we have to do to clean up the streets, so be it! Civil rights be damned! No one had the guts, UNTIL NOW!")

Frown: My wife wants to opt out of getting together with friends tonight to go see a movie. Not in the mood for a Friday night at the theater.

I have two free passes and her logic is "Why waste them on a matinee? Let's see a movie at full price", as if the free passes lose value if we catch a matinee.

Well I don't soeed in neighborhoods where kids and pets are likely to be in the roads. But the posting of speed limits is done fairly arbitrarily in mind and for the least common denominator i.e. big trucks. I drive a performance vehicle that can easily handle driving at higher speeds. I would also say the roads and driving conditions are very different from where we live.

The same thing happened to me right after I was venting about getting an inspection sticker, then I got a ticket for not having a valid one not one hour after posting it here. I actually got it thrown out yesterday, but not after having to run around the entire court house. The officer put court #15 at 7pm and I sat in #15 for a hour and a half and finally asked the lady why my name wasn't called. Turns out I was supposed to be in court #1, and they had me down as a no show and issued a warrant. I got it fixed, but it pissed me off how a simple mistake could have given me jail time.

Something similar happened to a friend of mine. He had to pay a fine and his lawyer said he'd take care of it. He didn't. The first my friend heard of this was when a cop showed up to arrest him for failure to pay/appear. It was cleared up, but not before my friend was handcuffed in the back of the police car. As it turns out, this particular lawyer had a bad habit of not taking care of stuff when he said he would.
