Seriously, this game is already being overlooked by many and it's one of the most pleasant surprises I've experienced in gaming for quite a while, I love it to pieces. It feels totally fresh in style and in substance, and also feels like the staff who developed it had an absolute blast developing it, something I rarely find in games anymore.
I'm not going to explain it as I'd be here all night so watch this video review. It sums it up pretty darn good and convinced me to try the game out. I had been watching this progress of this game overtime but wasn't overly hyped about it, but it blew me away, it really is one of the most slickly produced, lovingly crafted games I have played in years.
If you had to compare it to other games, it's a sort of blend of Katamari and Jet Set Radio. It's a puzzle platformer score attack game that is also has tons of stuff to do and unlock, with levels that can take you around 30 minutes at a time. My main problem with this game is that there are no saves points in a level, so you have to dedicate the time to playing a level or you have to restart from scratch. It is insanely additive after a while, especially if you're one of those people that has to complete everything.
The cut scenes are also bloody brilliant. I'm not sure if these were animated in-house or they got a studio to do the work (like Sega does with all those great FMV's their games have now), but if it was to be of a simular quality to what's here I'd love to see this become a cartoon, which isn't impossible as THQ has connections with Nickelodeon who have already turned one of their game franchises into a TV series with Tak (which has no where near the charm this game has). There's still a lot of potential in the game concept so I'd love to see a sequel, too. To think this started out as a student project that THQ bought the rights to. To think this is even coming from THQ, who are not exactly known for breaking the mold or even doing anything that is not licensed.
The game is currently £18 on play.com, and it's worth every penny. I'd hate to see people complaining in the future that this game went overlooked.
