So Chrono Trigger Crimson Echoes
So Chrono Trigger Crimson Echoes
Is this worth checking out? I started it and it seems pretty difficult. I keep getting raped by random encounters when I'm low on health. I love Chrono Trigger, its one of my favorite games of all time. I also really hated Chrono Cross, and I never finished Radical Dreamers. Was that the name? The one that was the Satella text based game. I never finished it.

You're better off with Flames of Eternity, which I believe is an improved version of Crimson Echoes.
Re: So Chrono Trigger Crimson Echoes
There was another thread where this was discussed somewhere, as I remember posting my impressions about it. I played it not so long ago and liked it. It's quite well made for a fan made patch. It starts a bit rough but the difficulty curve gets a bit better, as I recall - although it is never "easy" as CT generally was unless you grind for it to become easy, it is more or less balanced if you are willing to manage the battles (cast Protect spells and such at the start for example).

I dunno about getting balanced out as time goes on. I just got to where I'm supposed to get Glenn and the "difficulty" (read HP) of standard enemies has come up CONSIDERABLY. Those little gargoyle guys:

They have something like 500 or 600 HP whereas the party currently has like 170 to 200 HP. And I had to fight 3 of them at the same time. CT didn't really have much grinding as I remember it. Since encounters were rarely random, you never really had to just hit a certain area and walk around. You'd have to leave and come back so they'd respawn.
Having these low level enemies with 600+ HP with the party at levels 8-10 is just ridiculous!
