Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems could be considered an unofficial sequel to X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse.

More localization fun...
Tombs & Treasures is actually a sequel. Its Japanese title is Asteka 2: Templo del Sol. The first Asteka was a Japan-only PC88/98/Sharp X-1 game.
Adventures of Lolo is a US/EU exclusive - and is actually a compilation of levels from a few MSX/Famicom/FDS games that never left Japan.

Isnt the virtual boy game Jack Brothers some sort of spin off of the Shin Megami Tensei games? I am not very familiar with the series, but I remember reading this.

This is correct. Jack Bros. is a SMT spin-off.jay_red wrote:Isnt the virtual boy game Jack Brothers some sort of spin off of the Shin Megami Tensei games? I am not very familiar with the series, but I remember reading this.
Also...and I am not sure if this counts...but it is widely believed the Ninja Gaiden Shadow for the Gameboy originated as a Gameboy version of the NES hidden gem Shadow of the Ninja. I have played through both games, and I can attest that Ninja Gaiden Shadow play a lot more like Shadow of the Ninja than it does any of the NES Ninja Gaiden games.

Ikaruga is a spiritual sequel to Radiant Silvergun

There are tons of games that fall under the Megami Tensei umbrella. You could divide the series up into "sub-series" like:jay_red wrote:Isnt the virtual boy game Jack Brothers some sort of spin off of the Shin Megami Tensei games? I am not very familiar with the series, but I remember reading this.
Megami Tensei
Shin Megami Tensei
Devil Summoner
Persona
Digital Devil Saga
Devil Survivor
Majin Tensei
Last Bible
Demikids
+ Jack bros. and various spin-offs
On a similar note, the Shining Force games are part of a larger "Shining series" that includes games like Shining in the Darkness, Shining Wisdom, Shining Soul, etc.
Yup. Tecmo got the publishing rights - turned it in a Ninja Gaiden game.prfsnl_gmr wrote: Also...and I am not sure if this counts...but it is widely believed the Ninja Gaiden Shadow for the Gameboy originated as a Gameboy version of the NES hidden gem Shadow of the Ninja. Speaking of Ninja Gaiden, the NES game isn't a port of the arcade original. It's a completely different game. The arcade game was ported to various computers and consoles though - it's probably easiest to find on Lynx.
The "Ninja Gaiden" games on Game Gear, Master System, and Xbox are all different too.

I don't know...Lynx games are pretty hard to find...It may be easier just to unlock it on Ninja Gaiden Black.BoneSnapDeez wrote:The arcade game was ported to various computers and consoles though - it's probably easiest to find on Lynx.
ALso, the first Ninja Gaiden game on the NES borrows a lot of stages and enemies from the arcade version even though the game is almost completely different.
Finally...Kid Dracula is a fun Castlevania spin off, and Galamoth, the final boss in that game:

also makes an appearance in Symphony of the Night:

He is a bit more intimidating in the second game...but arguably no more difficult to defeat.

Congos Caper is actually Joe & Mac 2 and Lost in the tropics should be Joe & Mac 3.

Lynx is "easiest" to find then (not counting unlockables and digital)... Good luck snagging a Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari ST, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, or DOS port.prfsnl_gmr wrote:I don't know...Lynx games are pretty hard to find...It may be easier just to unlock it on Ninja Gaiden Black.BoneSnapDeez wrote:The arcade game was ported to various computers and consoles though - it's probably easiest to find on Lynx.(I guess you could also download the Virtual Console version, but that would be too easy...)
Also Ninja Gaiden III on Lynx is the same as the NES game (The Ancient Ship of Doom). Ninja Gaiden II on Lynx? Doesn't exist.
