What do you snack on when gaming?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Drinks on a table, food only on the kitchen table, no elbows on the table, no pissing in the shower, no scrounging in the kitchen after 9pm, no drinks on the bedside tables, shoes or slippers on, put things back where they belong, and if you are going to smoke in the parlor, use the ashtray and keep your cigar/smoke AWAY from the carpet. Basic manners, no?

I shouldn't have to babysit people in their thirties, yet I have no choice. And every "That will come out" is met with a "It better, because you are cleaning it".
You tell your friends to take their elbows off the table or to not have a late night snack if they so feel inclined? Or is this for your family only because you don't have any friends left after scaring them all off?

The no kitchen after 9pm thing would be extremely difficult since I usually don't even wake up until then.

I didn't know there was a person under the age of 80 who still observed the tradition of "no elbows on the table."

There are exceptions (2am buffalo wings and such) but I'm pretty strict about house rules. I don't ever want to move form this place, and although accidents occur, most are preventable by common courtesy.

This isn't just a dining room table rule, it is a table rule in general including the poker table.

Picnic table? Sit on that thing for all I care. That's a designated outdoor table allowed for elbows, knees, sexing it up (after hours of course), bbq sauce, your dog, stains...it's filthy to begin with. But at home, my salad fork is to the left of my dinner fork and so on.

Geez, old man house Mr. L L. :P

Drinks on a table - I don't always follow it, but good idea so they're visible and out of harm's way.

food only on the kitchen table - Hard when you don't have a kitchen or a dining table.

no elbows on the table - Only remember that being mentioned a few times when I was little. Haven't heard it in ages.

no pissing in the shower - It's all going the same place anyway. If you give into the urge with the hot water it's going to happen at the beginning so there will be several minutes of soapy water following after anyway. If you shower in the morning, you save the water you would have flushed the toilet with.

no scrounging in the kitchen after 9pm - That would be a a long wait until I headed to bed at my normal 2-3 AM time. What do you do if you're up past midnight on a weekend?

no drinks on the bedside tables - Drinking horizontally is always bad. Only time liquid is allowed near my bed is if I'm sick and then water only.

shoes or slippers on - Socks and carpet don't spontaneously create dirt and barefoot is where it's at.

put things back where they belong - Always try to do that, especially when it is someone else's place.

use the ashtray and keep your cigar/smoke AWAY from the carpet. Basic manners, no? - Nope, smoke outside if you must, but don't leave anything but extinguished ashes anywhere.

^We basically see eye to eye.

The "Don't piss in the shower" rule doesn't clean your feet by proxy and by "Piss" I also mean "masturbate". The rule is "Keep the shower clean".

"Elbows off the table" is a sign of respect and a precaution to some of my antique furniture. Uptight I may be, but elbows off is a rule I always enforce.

"Put things back where you got them, in the condition you got them" is something I will never budge on. I don't care if it's a ten cent Allen wrench, an air compressor, or a Babe Ruth signed baseball, treat my stuff as if it was your own.

Smoke usually stinks, but I allow Cigar smoking during long (twelve plus hours) Poker games. I have an incredible standing ash tray from the 20's that can't go to waste, and my wife doesn't mind the lingering smoke.

Somehow this became the Emily Post rules of Etiquette thread

As for the original topic question, the same things I snack on whenever I'm NOT gaming

It's rare that I actually eat while gaming though. I don't want food or crumbs near my electronics, and I'm very paranoid about spilled drinks. Given that most of my gaming is in my bedroom these days, I'm even less inclined to eat while gaming. I don't want any critters showing up in there.

I'm very finicky and OCD about some things, though not quite to the level of this guy:

but sometimes close
