I've got a nasty old wired 360 controller I'd like to salvage if I can. The left joystick has the issue of getting stuck very slightly upwards, not always enough to notice it physically but in game it's been an issue. The buttons are a little sticky and stuff too.
Probably bad enough I'd need to open this one. But yeah, what's the best way to try and clean/smooth things out again? If possible. I figure some microfiber cloth and some kind of spray would do it.
Simple enough but I figure you guys have some good tips on this stuff lol (couldn't find any old topics on this unless I missed them).
Best stuff to clean controllers with?

Dismantle, put your drain basket in so you don't lose things down sink, then old toothbrush, warm water, and dish soap to clean the shell, buttons and pulled off thumbsticks. Dry for several hours with a fan blowing on them. The stick could be just the spring getting a little worn out inside the potentiometer. Does it center properly after being pushed up?

No, seems to get a tiny bit stuck upwards even after a flick or something. Also makes a clicking noise when I push it in, not as in the button itself clicking, but there's another click like something isn't together correctly.Hobie-wan wrote:Dismantle, put your drain basket in so you don't lose things down sink, then old toothbrush, warm water, and dish soap to clean the shell, buttons and pulled off thumbsticks. So that could be something stuck in there which disassembling will let you know, or the potentiometer is probably a little messed up which you really couldn't do anything about short of replacing that component on the board.
