I watched some of Maid Sama but eventually gave up. It's another show that has a great first episode but goes downhill from there.

Somewhere around here I've got some random issues of Newtype USA. My high school library used to carry it and when they stopped they just let us have whatever we wanted from it.

I think it's stuff from 2006-2007 (or is it 2005-2006?), I should flip through them again sometime to see if there's anything interesting being covered.

It was kinda a crap magazine though, ultra expensive (like friggin' $12 an issue!) and they seemed to just praise absolutely everything under the sun, so their reviews ended up not meaning much. Plus the layout of all the previews and articles was kinda annoying. If it wasn't available from the library for free, I would've never read it.

I liked that magazine. I have a few of them. Although, it was expensive. For a few years, they came with some free preview DVDs.

I was torn between buying a newtype or buying some manga.

With internet and fansubs this magazine quickly lost its interest.

It very closely mimicked its japanese counterpart.

If you come across any early/mid 2000's ADV anime, you'll see promos for this magazine.

There still are some fans though, so its still collectable to them

Yeah the DVDs were just given away to whoever wanted them at school, so they didn't stick around long.

$12 an issue is just completely insane for any magazine, really.

Is Newtype Japan still publishing still?

I saw the full first season of The Tower of Druaga because it has brand recognition and I don't discriminate between qualities when I'm tired

Also got spoiled by watching a random season 2 episode for ten seconds. Fuck that shit :(

Watched the first episode of Monogatari Series Season 2. I was really excited for this one and so far it hasn't disappointed. There was some excellent head tilting.

Image

Nearly every minute of the episode prompted a new question and I eagerly await the next one. It won't make any sense if you haven't seen the other Monogatari anime, though. Definitely for fans.

I wonder, what happened between Hanakawa and Senjougahara? When did they become so familiar? I liked that Senjougahara drove most of the conversation. What's with her strange(r) behavior today?

Can't get enough of her. She's probably my favorite anime character of all. Fascinating personality and brilliant visual design. You could say that about the entire show, though

I'll be watching Hellsing OVA #5 tonight. It finally came in the mail (along with one other purchase), so in the player it finally goes.

Here it is on my nice hand made shelves (along with everything else.)

After 4 years I finally finished off the Hellsing OVAs. It's going to nag at my OCD that the set doesn't match, but after that long, I'll deal.

What's in that one on the left that deserves to be padlocked?

Those damned expensive Sailor Moon sets, that's what.

Monogatari really never disappoints. Can't wait for episode 2!

And for any fans of Monogatari on this forum I highly recommend Katanagatari from the same writer.
