I just watched Hesher, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and a bunch of other people, and I really really liked it. It also proves that 80s granny glasses can be really hot... if you're Natalie Portman.

His role is big. He's a main character, so he's on screen a lot. I'd definitely say if you've reached the "I hate Depp" point then you'll dislike the movie.

I love "non character" actor Johnny Depp; you know, when he doesn't seem like a life like Jar Jar. If it is two plus hours of close ups of him doing his "HUH!?!" face, I'll pass.

FTFY. When I saw it today, the house was absolutely PACKED with old timers (as I suspected it would be) and they had a blast. I gotta say, their enthusiasm was infectious and I enjoyed it just as much as they did. Johnny Depp was brilliant as Tonto to the point that I would say he's the primary reason to see it. One thing, though:

Towards the end of the film, there's a big action sequence that, as soon as it begins, William Tell kicks in and plays underneath the entire scene. If you, as a viewer, find that too ridiculous for your taste, then this film is not for you. The whole movie is somewhat campy (presumably on purpose), but in this case, that approach works pretty well and enhances the film's charm rather than detracting from it.

The biggest plus, though, is that the movie just feels like classic, old-school Disney magic, so if you're a fan of that, then definitely check it out.
