I was reading some reviews of Ratchet and Clank:Size Matters. Now apparently, the PSP version got lots of great reviews while the PS 2 port didn't. Now here's what I don't understand. All the complaints I've read about in the PS2 version's reviews seem to be things that existed in the PSP version. So what does that mean? Reviewers gave the game a pass on the PSP because apparently they don't expect much from a portable, but when it's on the PS 2 they suddenly decide to call the game out on all its bullshit. What kind of game reviewer is that? A bad game is a bad game, regardless of what console it's on. You can't say one version of the game is great while the other is bad when it's the SAME DAMN GAME!!
Video game reviewers just make me want to bash my head against a wall. Nothing they say makes any sense.
More evidence of how stupid video game reviewers are

This is a known fact for a long time. When reviewing a game, they are only comparing it to other offerings on that same platform, unless it's a multi-platform title, in which case direct comparisons are expected.

Yes, you're right, but it's just weird to read a couple reviews talking about how awesome the game is(PSP version), then a bunch complaining about tons of stuff they hate about the game(PS2 version). The tone of the reviews are dramatically different depending on which version you're reading them for.Mozgus wrote:This is a known fact for a long time. That's one cool thing about Yahtzee. He's not so much comparing, he just tells you if he thinks a game is good or not. Well, most of the time anyway

Still, it's their opinion.
I've read my fair share of bad reviews, but hey, I don't make my mind up because of them.

As far as I was aware the psp's hardware was very similar to the ps2's. So why would a reviewer expect less from the portable version of the same game?Gamerforlife wrote:I was reading some reviews of Ratchet and Clank:Size Matters. The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Yeah seen one to many games get attacked unnecessarily by a reviewer.

I've actually wondered about this myself. How powerful is the PSP? I'm guessing it's somewhere between PS1 and PS 2 as far as what it's capable of. I've heard of some popular PS 2 games getting good PSP ports, but I also hear that they are missing a few things when compared to their older siblings. I know there's a pretty much perfect version of Disgaea available for the PSP, but it's not like Disgaea really used up all of the PS 2's power so it doesn't prove that the PSP can handle PS2 quality games.Droid party wrote:As far as I was aware the psp's hardware was very similar to the ps2's.
