Hey guys, I'm planning on going to Los Angeles sometime at the first weekend of August. So I am wondering what would be the best place to stay at a hotel, a places that's worth checking out besides the obvious and it doesn't matter if it's gaming-wise, Record shop-wise, Or just whatever it's worth checking out, Plan on staying around the Irvane area, maybe Anaheim. I'll be spending most of most of the time on a date, And since she grew up around LA all her life, She will show me around most the places. And the awesome perk is that she works at Disneyland!
Sorry this is a open suggestion thread. So go ahead and just throw out some ideas, tips what to avoid, tourist traps and all that jazz.
Thanks.

Re: Planning on going to LA
I know a fair amount about the Hollywood area, not much about the rest of LA. Record stores are mostly crap there (atleast to me), but if you want books go to Larry Edmunds or Illiad (Larry Edmunds is movie books and movie stuff only). Also, if you can afford it, Musso and Franks is a gimmie.

FOOD:
Be sure to get a Juicy Lucy.
In n' Out Burger
Shen Yang
Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles
Olio Pizzeria and Cafe
Uncle Henry's Deli
Taco Carts
edit* When dining out, ask the waiter or waitress what tourist traps to avoid and where the locals go for fun. This has helped me several times when I was a fish out of water.

Re: Planning on going to LA
I think you meant Irvine.
We don't have any In n' Out or Chick Fil A where I'm from so I always make it a point to go to those when I'm near one. I also like The Yardhouse which has great food and tons of beer on tap. Last time I was in Irvine I went to Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ which was really good and the dessert was amazing.
Have fun!

Unless Amoeba went to crap in the years since I've been, you obviously haven't been there.fastbilly1 wrote:Record stores are mostly crap there (atleast to me)

You mean they still have Chick Fil A's on the west coast? I thought the local popular had shown their love and tolerance for homosexual marriage by vandalism and destroying all the restaurants over there. You know, to show how much they care about other people's rights.Stark wrote:I think you meant Irvine.

No, no, no. The vandalism was caused by groups of patrons who went there on a Sunday.
All the protestors did was insult employees like jerks.
