Muchi Muchi Pork / Pink Sweets - talk about them? Help!

Post by beatnix »

My cousin picked up a copy of the game for me a month or two ago on a visit to Japan... He finally sent it to me yesterday. I couldn't find a dedicated thread about them so figured I post and see if anyone had any tips or thoughts they want to share. As with every cave game I have played I seem to be pretty baffled about the scoring system right out of the gate. With the added bonus of not speaking or reading Japanese... Well, yea... I'm at a bit of a loss.

I'll spend some time tonight watching play through videos and reading up on the scoring... But i know there are a few people here who love these games and may be able to chip in some ideas.

And another important question... which one should I focus on first??

Both games are outstanding.

MMP is deeper, i'd start w/that.

For strategy and gameplay - rather than try to say what others have already stated well, we'll just link this:

Thank you! That's exactly what I'm looking for. I've played through them a few times each just to get a feel... I'm looking forward to digging into them.

Muchi Muchi Pork is the more accessible game, and has a scoring system that is a nice variety of Raizing and Cave styles. Scoring in MMP is very rewarding, as you get the "Big Medal" awesomeness from Raizing, and the flashy, sharp control over the system that Cave often offers.

Pink Sweets is just straight up mean. Its pretty straightforward if you know how traditional Yagawa shooters work (Garegga, Batrider, Ibara). The rank is nasty, and you can't really do much to stop it, and the game is rock hard.

I would say start with MMP. If you have any specific questions about the game or scoring, just ask away or shoot me a PM. I am always willing to give a little rundown.

So I took the advice and started with MMP... Been through a few runs now and starting to get a feel for things. I'm scoring in the 10-14 million range right now and haven't made it past boss 2... But I'm feeling more comfortable. I really am enjoying it though. Lots of action and the scoring system is fun. I like bouncing the medals. It seems, just like with all of the cave games I've played, the key is utilizing both weapons.

Chime in here if you want... but it seems you need to keep a steady supply of pigs to be able to rack up medals using the big weapon. I assume the longer your counter is full the more big medals you score... Unfortunately I'm still dying too quickly to see what a good run with a full counter will do for my score.

It was at 2:32 am on April 29th that my cousin sent me a message from Japan with a pic of the game he just bought for me. It didn't arrive at my house until July 1st. He was back in the states the first week of May but dropped it between his car seats and forgot to mail it. Waiting sucks! But glad to have it and I got it shipped to me for 35.00 so can't complain too much.
