Dang. New month already. I was hoping to put some more time into Cotton Boomerang before today. Oh well.

Put a quick run in, and missed the name entry as I was running to grab a camera. Anyone getting sound on this one? It's a little weird shumping without sound. (Oh, and no rapid, even though the name of the game is "Rapid Hero.")

this one is pretty old and should work fine, even if you encounter sound glitches. Don't pass it up, it reminds me a bit of Toaplan.

Here's my first attempt and without autofire. I used to be able to get pretty far in. I really like this game.


I hope you can get the sound figured out pierrot because the music is excellent. Maybe you need a more recent version of mame?

Yeah, possibly. I'm running it in FBA, and when I initially started it up, there was a brief second of sound; then nothing. I don't know if I really have the will to fiddle with other versions of MAME, though.

Edit: Damn, this game is cool. I had only played this one 2 or 3 times before it won the vote, at which point I wanted to wait until now to play it.

Cool game yes, but I could find next to nothing to give this game the writeup it deserves. This game however, fits well with what I like to see in a shmup. Just the right amount of everything and not too difficult so far. Stage 3 boss can just go away at anytime.

On MAME 0.141 (the exclusive version I use), I get a warning about the sound not being 100% accurate, but it sounds good anyway. I see that the sound has been fixed in the latest version which is 0.149, so if anyone has an issue with it, get the newest version.

Please no autofire debates again, just tap the buttons like you should in a shmup of this vintage
