Atari/Intellivision/Tandy/etc (ie: games without "endings") games are "beaten" when the games starts looping.
I also agree.
The only other condition that I impose on games without proper "endings" is besting the default high score. (Usually, you do this by the time the game starts "looping" but not always.) Also, if a game does not have a proper ending and does not loop - e.g., Astrosmash, etc. - then I research high scores for the game, and consider the game "beaten" when I have spent at least 2 hours with the game and have set a respectable high score.

Doom 3 via DOOM 3: BFG Edition I never got into Doom 3 very much when it first came out, the dark hallways and use of the 'torch or gun' did not appeal to me back then when looking at screenshots of Half Life 2's seeming open and colorful world.
I really wanted to play this game in the past few years, just to have played it. I bought a copy of it on PC but never got around to play it, a week or so ago there was a sale and I picked up BFG, which did not really add anything new to the table, other than being able to use your flashlight and gun at the same time, with a battery that recharge when not in use, to make sure you can't have it on all the time. They also added a small expansion pack exclusive to the BFG edition (It also comes with Doom (with the 4th episode) Doom II (With a new epsidoe that was previously exclusive to the 360) as well as the expansion for Doom 3, which I am yet to play. So BFG is a nice Doom collection all around with 2 previously unreleased (on PC) expansion packs for two of the games.
I have to say for a game that is pretty much inside all the time, which I am not always a fan of, it holds up really well. There were some moments of shock value early on, before you learn that when you hear the summon noise, to just turn around. The spawning patterns become very predictable as you keep playing. Overall I enjoyed playing it in 2013, it's a shame I did not when it first came out, but another one off the list!
Now to get into the expansions in awhile, I am a bit DOOM'ed out. Steam puts it at 9 hours to complete, not a bad little running time.

What are you talking about? Great Ducktales prequel.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

Was really joking about length I need to try the various modes out but mode 1 only took about 10 minutes .
Doom in Doom BFG has a 4th episode that was not in the original game. If I finish the first three, which make up the Original Doom, should I consider Doom beaten, then if I finish the new expansion, consider it as a separate entry?
I was thinking of the BFG exclusive (for PC anyhow) new episode for Doom II "No Rest for the Living". Thy Flesh Consumed is the 4th episode in the BFG edition of Doom 1.
Hmmm, I guess when I finish Doom 1 I should list it as Ultimate Doom.
