Any Syphon Filter or Driver Fans?

Good topic. I have all 3 SF titles.

And I've just purchased Driver 2 special edition [box set], anyone else have that?

Driver 1 will come next.

Driver 1 rocked. I loved that game. Played it from start to finish.

The garage bit wasn't that hard come on! Besides Moz, I thought you liked punishing control schemes, being a big fan of the resi series before 4 and all...

The J-turn was a bit of a bitch but it only took me a couple of attempts and the first time I failed because I wasn't 100% sure what I had to do.

Also if people enjoyed Driver you should go straight to Stuntman. Be forgiving with the load times and you'll have a blast. Same realistic driving engine as the first one. Just you and the car trying to drive as perfectly flashy and controlled as possible.

Driver 2 sucked balls in my opinion. The graphics seemed worse (how is that possible?!) the on foot thing just seemed tacked on to pandy the naysayers of the first who disliked the fact you had one car and if you totalled it you couldn't jump out and grab another one. This is NOT a flaw. It taught you to look after your car rather than just trashing it, disposing and getting another.

I would definately avoid Driver 2 and just stick with Driver 1 and Stuntman (it's true spiritual successor, I completely disregard Driver 2 and all it's sequels as part of the franchise they are both that bad).

On the positive side the replay editor on Driver 1 is a game in itself. I spent so many hours just editing footage together to make my own little 70s cops n robbers flick. Tumbling box piles and the 'hub cam' FTW!

I don't mind doing a little something for the Driver side. I know practically nothing about syphon filter. I played it but I didn't really get into it. It seemed too easy and a little boring to me.

I'll try to be objective about driver 2 if you want me to write about that as well... I really hated it though!

Yeah it would be fine if you focus on the original and then just add a sentence or two about the sequel.

Thanks a bunch!

For anyone who cares, the Driver 2 boxset which just arrived today contains the following:

Driver 2, game, case, and manual
A keyring with Driver 2 on it, stainless steel
3 Driver 2 postcards
A music CD, Music Inspired by Driver 2

And it's also supposed to come with a fancy pen, but mine lacked it.

Hey Racket, if you're still looking for someone to do the Syphon Filter piece, I could give it a shot. I'm a pretty huge fan, I suppose.

Both games rock. I bought them as soon as they were released and played both to the end. None of their sequels have quite lived up to the originals, but the SF sequels are a LOT better than the Driver sequels. Driver 2 wasn't bad and the Cops N Robbers mini 2-player game is great, as are a number of the other mini games. I finished Driver 2, but it just didn't compare to the original overall and would have been one to skip if it hadn't been for the included mini games.

I really liked the syphon filter games except the ps2 omega strain which I never finished to this day. I consider a little to much of the same was the thing that kept this game from growing into a better game. The ps1 releases were on my top list of game released for that console, I just don't remember much of the story. I think in some way syphon filter influenced latter games like splinter cell. The psp game is a great addition to the franchise, its a must for psp owners. Not much changed but the formula worked well and gave an entertaining short game. As for driver never really cared about it. Looking forwar to reading what you guys come up with sometime soon.
Consoles: NES, Famicom, SNES, GC, GB DMG, GB Pocket, GBC, GBA, DSI XL, N64, VBoy, NDS, 3DSXL, Wii, SMS, GEN+CD+32X, GG, SAT, DC, WS, WS Color, NGPC, XBOX, 360, PS1, PSone, PS2, PSP, PS3, 3DO, CD-I, NGCD, Actionmax, TG16+CD, TE, PCE-DUO, Odyssey2, Playdia, 2600, Lynx & JAG.

I agree about the Driver thing. I bought it, couldn't beat the tutorial, looked at a guide, still couldn't get it, returned it. Never played SF, looks fun though.
