Worst consoles of all time.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Now that's an underrated gem.

I own it and really need to get around to playing through it one of these days...

The Commodore 64 Games System has to be up there.

It's essentially a consolized Commodore 64 that only plays carts (no disks or tapes).

Completely pointless, as the Commodore 64 can function as a console itself. It was designed to hook up to a television and no additional hardware is needed if you're only playing cartridge games.

As a final insult, the C64 Games System has no keyboard like the original computer. Most cart games of the time require the keyboard to begin gameplay ("Enter 1 or 2 for number of players", "Push Space/F1/Enter/etc to Start").

By the time the Games System was released 1990, the C64 computer had been on the market for 8 years and had dropped down to a very affordable price - in fact the Games System and the fully-functional C64 computer cost about the same thing!

Lastly, the 1990 release date meant the Games System had to compete with 16-bit systems in the home market.

A total flop! Kinda cool looking though.

I don't understand why that's such an issue. To me, if you guys are basing your opinions on consoles you guys haven't actually played, then you lose any credibility in my book. Which is why I didn't include systems like Atari 5200 and Sega 32X.

And thanks Ack for explaining my situation better than I can, lol.

Again, can you really call an add-on another system?
N64/NES/FC/SNES/SFC/GB (SGB)/GBC (Black)(SGB)/FDS/Satellaview/Genesis/Mega Drive/Master System & maybe N64DD/GBC/GBA.

Have yall forgotten about The Capcom Power System Changer? While it does have some good titles like Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting and Captain Commando, it was stupidly expensive, poorly implemented, and only has eleven games.

It has a game library that can't be played on other consoles, that counts a system in my book. But I'm not gonna make a federal case out of it since I've never played one anyways.

Is there really an effective difference between something like a Sega CD and something like say, the N64's expansion pack or the Saturn's RAM carts?

In all cases, they have games that don't work without both the base console and the accessory in question.

Ram cart and expansion pack are the same thing as the base consoles, just require an accessory.

32X is not a console, it an an add-on to an existing console. So for the topic I would say it does not count. I would say it has its own game library, but again that does not mean its a "console", just an add-on.

Also in regard to the "ganging up" thing, I don't think it was really uncalled for or rude. When you bump a 3 year old topic basically just to bash on stuff, I would say getting those kind of replies is basically getting what you ask for.
