I have a TV/VCR combo that I got for free some years back and I love it. I keep it by my work bench to keep me sane if I'm doing something mundane. I was pissed when the cable company made it so you NEED a box to receive any channels at all, and I'm not paying for an additional box in my basement, so the built in VCR saved the day.

Cool find!

Yeah I'm pretty happy about that find. It's a neat TV - works perfectly.

Only issue is that I don't have room for it. Once I move I'll (hopefully) have a game room with a space for three televisions... Two for gaming and one for TV/movies maybe? My wife will be impressed.

Some guy brought it to the dump to toss it (he had just "upgraded" to a HDTV) and I asked if I could have it. He didn't have to pay dump fees and I now have another CRT (with built-in VHS and DVD!). Everybody wins!
Our Trinitron died yesterday (RIP Old Friend) and my step mom is seeing if her friend's parents are going to give up their 32" TV since they just upgraded.

Sadly, they didn't know of it was an HD CRT. I hope it is.

Heheh, yeah, well mine's only a ~19" so it's not so hard to stick some where. When I first got it, at the time my other TV for the basement "man cave" was a 19" too. I had them both set up side by side so that I could watch TV and play a game at the same time. It was kinda neat to have the hockey game on and play Castlevania, but I never found it necessary. Just "look what I can do!"

Nothing phenomenal today. At my 1st thrift stop I got a Model 2 Sega Genesis with two 1st party controllers and a copy of Sonic Classics (no AV/RF or AC adapters) for $8. The hookups are easy to get cheap but I was most excited to get the 1st party controllers, especially the official 6 button. They seem to be getting a lot more difficult to find at reasonable prices. I had 9 or 10 Genesis' (not including the Nomad) already but for $8 I can't seem to leave these things on the shelf when I see them.
The system was pretty cruddy. It powered on but it wouldn't load the game at first. I used the ol' credit card trick and I was amazed at how much gunk was in the cartridge slot. I gave the console a full clean up and works beautifully now.

Then at a Goodwill I got The Amazing Spider-Man (CIB) for Xbox 360 for $18. I don't like paying that much for newer games anymore but I have been waiting and waiting to find it for less than $20 so I picked it up.

Later I found 4 Game Gear games for $0.90 each. Lion King, Ecco the Dolphin, Berenstain Bears Camping Adventure, and Tempo Jr.

From a pawn shop I got Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks (CIB) for PS2 (which also had a MK Armageddon manual inside) for $2 and Army of Two The 40th Day (CIB) for Xbox 360 for $12.

A pretty mediocre day overall.

That bites, what cable company? I have COX and it still supports the analog signals in addition to digital, although I have noticed a few of the analog channels have dropped. All my bedroom TVs RF are set to Cable Ready and can pick up the basic cable. It is strange you cable company does not maintain this since there are so many households that prefer just basic cable, but I guess eventually all wired in cable will even go digital. I wonder if a regular digital channel box might work, the ones offered for off the air broadcast?

You can ask them to look at the part number on the back whenever they move it. If it is a HD CRT or even if a regular tube it could be an inexpensive though meticulous fix.

@ Bone - Very nice find on the Combo TV!

@ Ziggy - That second CRT, two player with two console link games!

Never heard of that, the picture makes me think its a cooking type of game. Mix of Food Fight and Street Fighter?

@ J_Wil - Nice find on the Sega Console, Games and Gear! I'm in a somewhat similar situation, have Mortal Kombat Armeggedon Collector Tin with manual, but no discs inside. You made out getting the extra manual! Ah well it was a freebie from Gamestop since they could not find the discs, even going back five more visits.

If you are a collector, now is definitely the time to be buying cheap Wii games at GameStop. Stopping at several stores today and yesterday, I grabbed all of the following:

Army Rescue (CIB)
Flip's Twisted World (CIB)
Octomania (CIB)
Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers (CIB)
Rygar: The Battle of Argus (CIB)
Target: Terror (CIB)
Tornado Outbreak (CIB)

for a grand total of $29. (Octomania was only $1!) At these prices, I doubt they will keep the cases and manuals around much longer; so, if you are a Wii collector, you should pick up CIB copies while they are still available.

Never saw a beat em up with built in punching bags....The art work on that is just LOL. Though when I saw the title I thought it was gonna be a cooking game? :D

Yes, we are definitely in the rare "green zone" for the Wii. Most people don't care about Wii games anymore and there are tons of them out there priced to move. These periods where a console is on life support and about to have the plug pulled don't last long. Soon enough the prices will start to rise again as people scoop up all desirable titles. I've come to loathe Gamestop over the past year but they're probably the best option for cheap games as they liquidate their stock. There are some really good quirky titles out there so I hope you guys are taking advantage now.
