I should certainly hope not. That's a long a$$ list.johnblade wrote:Not going to buy all of them but do want opinion from here of which one I should look into.
Anyway, I haven't delved into all of them, but I'll give you my opinion on the one's I've watched to completion.
I've never been a big fan of Tenchi, as the whole harem angle (and the humor that accompanies it) turns me off. But it's a nice story with some good action sequences.johnblade wrote: Series:
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo Ohki OVA
Excellent action sequences. Very dark and fast paced. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked the pacing of the movie better than the series. If you can, watch the movie first. If you like it, than just know that the series is more of the same.Afro Samurai: The Complete Murder Sessions
Don't let all the pictures of girls with guns fool you. If you're expecting a lot of shootouts and action you will be sorely disappointed. Don't get me wrong, there is action, but the focus of the show is on the characters of the girls, how they deal with their missions at the Social Welfare Agency and their relationships with their handlers. A lot more emotionally heavy than you'd initially think, but excellent non-the-less.Gunslinger Girl
And, if it matters, it's also has a decent dub. (I couldn't stand listening to the Japanese track while they were speaking Italian words. It was very, very weird to me.)
Cowboy Bebop with swords. I didn't think it was as entertaining as Bebop, but it has a very similar episodic structure and vibe.Samurai Champloo
I love Nausicaa. One of my top 3 Ghibli movies. Good story, beautiful setting, strong characters....It's a personal favorite.johnblade wrote: Movies
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Excellent movie, but good God is it depressing. I highly suggest a rental first, as it's definitely worth watching, but you probably won't want to view it again any time soon.Grave of the Fireflies
Charming, emotional and touching film about the love of the chase. Beautiful visuals (as expected in a Satoshi Kon film) with fascinating transitions between movie fantasy and present. Multiple viewings have only endeared it to me more.Millenium Actress
